You sign up into the site in the normal way username and stuff. there is two areas to which you can upload to on your account and they are a public area which is that you only need to have the user name to view and down load the files from that account via a url www.mediamax.com/username . I only use this when I am sharing files with people/mates like group work. But from the public area you cant change any thing or delete any thin unless you have logged in. the other area is a privet Area where you have to log in to use here you can edit the public area and the personal area. There are many separate Folders in each area that is dedicated for different items e.g. music, photos, video and stuff you can use this if you what or not your chose. I've found it's very quick to find stuff on your account and to down load and up load. the problems that do annoy me are the viewing the public area the screen that you are given is too small you can only see 3-4 files at a time and have to scroll own to see the rest. And that the website gets taken off line about once a moth for maintenance Which could last up to 24hrs which is annoying but they do tell you on the site when this going to happen. Over all large online storage is very good lay out and navigation is very easy.
Don't be fooled by the 25GB of free storage yes it's a lot of storage but trying to upload even small files is horrendously slow it's taken me 25 minutes to upload a 11mb file and I'm using broadband with a fast upload speed (connection not being used to by anything else) I switched from dial-up to broadband 5 years ago if I continue to use mediamax I will be regressing back to dial-up speeds,
Another thing to point out is with the free account ... ...were to backup all my photo's music & docs and use all of the 25GB of free storage and needed to restore them to my computer I would either have to pay either $4.95pm 10GB download per month, $9.95pm 25GB download per month or $29.95pm 100GB download per month or wait over 2 years with the free account before I could restore all of my data.
As for reliabilty and customer service I haven't been using mediamax long enough to personally be able to ...

Advantages: Accessibility (if the servers are not randomly down again) Disadvantages: Poor interface, randomly lost files, horrible customer service
Customer service is nonexistent. They don't allow you to phone them. You're supposed to e-mail about problems...but you're lucky if they actually respond to e-mail (my own experience suggests a 1-in-10 chance of a response) and if their response has anything to do with your complaint. Oh, and if you try to cancel your account (can't do it through the web account management; you have to e-mail), they pull the old AOL trick where they just ignore you ...
