Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: network disruption
I'm not sure how I came across this site, think I just heard about it through word of mouth. It came in useful at university when the campus computer didn't have msn installed!
I'd used other web based messengers services, mainly the msn one. However I much prefer this.

When someone sends a message you get their name coming on top of the window/tab of internet explorer/firefox so even if you have the sound off you can still know if you've got a message without having to check back every two minutes. This is a distinct advantage over webmessenger by msn and the main reason that I prefer meebo.
The disadvantage of meebo is that it either works fine or there is bad network disruption and it's ust rubbish so it is a bit hit and miss but overall I've had no problems.

I first discovered Meebo in college because other students had been using it since the school's online settings blocked programs like AIM.
