There's an old saying wich says that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sadly, mingers.com takes a blatant disregard to this old adage and makes aesthetic assessments on the poor individuals who are deemed to have fallen from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down... In short, the site shows photographs of people who are chubby, long-nosed and facially imperfect.
In an age when Heat magazine publishes articles slagging off women for being to thin, juxtaposed with articles slagging off women for being too fat, there seems to be more emphasis on evaluating peoples' appearance, and it now seems more acceptable than ever to laugh at the tall and goofy and the short and portly
The homepage of mingers.com lets browsers choose from a number of menus? First up is the 'Minger Of The Week' section, where one poor sole will be deemed the most facially unfortunate individual in the last 7 days. There is also the opportunity to look at previous holders of this uncoveted accolade. These vary from the elderly housewife in a nicotine-filled porn-shoot (best observed away from meal-times), to the obese, the stereotypically geeky and the poor individuals whose Kodak's were being unkind that day.
There is also the opportunity to look at 'minging couples'. Most of these pictures come from weddings, the majority smiling into each others eyes. Unfortunately, as I'm in more of an Emma Freud mood than a Clement Freud mood today (scatty, incoherent and unable to press the right button on the CD player), I shan't philosophise as to whether the joke is actually on the people browsing the site who have nothing better to do than to look at people's perceived ugliness than the happy-looking couples who are being ridiculed.
'The gallery' categorises mingers into various sections... the 'classics', whose mug-shots are so unusual that they have popped up in magazines such as Loaded and FHM, 'dancers' who's facial contortions have probably more to do with overdoing the Lambrini at the Ritzy rather than being naturally 'minging', and 'multiple mingers', which are mostly people at parties being caught unawares, and naturally pulling a silly face as some kind of animal instinct split-seconds before the flash goes off.
There are several hundred photos on the site in total for people to peruse over. However, in addition, there are a number of other bonus features. There is a message board for people to discuss the various features of people on the site, which surely plumbs the depths of pointlessness and e-cards to fill up the inboxes of close friends and relatives.
There is also a section to submit your own pictures - perhaps not the signature of choice on the www for most people, but horses for courses I guess... A shop also exists if you want to buy one of those Fruits Of The Loom T-shirts that cost about £2, with a mark-up of about £12 for the sake of a wonky slogan. As much of a bargain as one of those £5000 semi-precious stone encrusted globes on bid-up.tv...
Ultimately, mingers.com is one of those curiosity sites that you probably wouldn't go back to unless you had an awful lot of time on your hands. However, arguably the most hilarious thing about the site is its disclaimer, which reads:
"We are not passing judgment on any of the people featured on this site. The views on the message board are not those of the mingers.com team and we can not be held responsible for messages posted on there. This site is not out to offend anyone."
Er, quite. Anyway, on the plus side, there are no pop-ups and it is pretty quick to load up. However, unless you have a curiosity that urges you to see if you recognise anyone on the site, then this is one corner of the Net that doesn't really need to be visited...
Advantages: Good fun and a boost to your own self confidence Disadvantages: Not as much content as it could have
...the site like?
Well Mingers.com is a pretty well put together site, that loads pretty easily and has NO adverts at all, which is a bonus, there are about eight sections to it, and here is a quick guide through them.
MINGER OF THE WEEK: Well this is pretty self-explanatory, it is of course the site user’s favourite minger of the week, in other words, the most gormless picture, and believe me, there are some pretty gormless pictures on here.
... ...ROUND-UP:
All in all, Mingers.com is a pretty fun site, but there doesn’t seem to be as many pictures as you’d find on other sites like “AmIhotornot”, but I suppose they are of better quality and a lot funnier, although there are quite a few normal peoples pictures sent in, (no doubt by spurned lovers or work-mates), and I’d suggest you go and take a quick look yourself as there are some classic gormless pictures on ...

Advantages: Realise you don't look so bad after all Disadvantages: Find yourself there and lose the will to live
...are greeted on entry to Mingers.com by a homepage of cheesy smiles and ‘odd’ looking people. The homepage gives a realistic example of the sites content, so if you don’t find anything remotely amusing about it, then i’d suggest you make a swift exit.

~ It’s not entirely necessary to go into fine detail of every link and where it leads. At the end of the day, whichever path you choose, you are going to find an array of real life people, and have your fingers crossed that you are not one of them! But, i’ll give you an idea of what’s there.
~ In the Gallery you will find further sections that class various ...

I used to visit this site a lot but it’s been under construction lately so I haven’t been able to. Honestly I don’t know what it is about this site that triggers off such immature laughter but I felt like a kid visiting this site. I know it sounds stupid but I did. As soon as the site loaded up something in me burst into laughter…..sounds stupid but it’s true. Was it because the people were ‘minging’ and ... ...stupid?
After a good laugh I browsed the site and very quickly laughter soon turned into disgust, some of the people weren’t mingers they were disgusting. If you visit the site you will find out. They have the Mingers of the Week category where you can check who’s made it on top of the podium. I do feel a touch sorry for the people on the site who have had their pictures sent in. It most be the worst thing that could happen to you. You ...

Advantages: Funny with some good features Disadvantages: A bit cruel, but i suppose a self-confessed minger created the site.
One day I was feeling a bit down. I needed cheering up and stumbled across the website mingers.com, the "home of the facially inept!". What an ego booster! No offence to some of the "stars", but they are where they belong. Their pictures posted up on a website for all to laugh at and feel better about themselves. There are no good looking people such as Weebagpuss (*wink wink*) only mingers.
On my 56k connection, the site seems fairly slow to load ... ...that need to be downloaded and the fact that my computer is c**p. However the site is well laid out with the use of frames and looks quite good, plain but striking.
The first main category on the site is the "Minger of the Week". This shows the most foulest beast that has been sent in that week. This week, two "big boned" girls show the true meaning of the Reebok advert, "Belly's gonna get ya".
The next section is the gallery. This is basically ...

Advantages: Good amusement Disadvantages: Could be insulting to somepeople
I was sent an email about this website from a friend and thought it was quite amusing. On this website you will find loads of pictures of people that don’t look like the normal average person, you’ll see what I mean once and if you do check this website out.
When the website loads up you will see ‘odd’ looking people so if you don’t find it funny or amusing then I’d advise you not to go any further.
Your curiosity ... ...then you’ll find the website easy to use and the pictures are quick to download.
Here is an idea of what’s on the website:
Minger Gallery, which is loads of pictures of ‘Mingers’ and all sorts of ‘Mingers’ including Minger couples and Minging look-a-likes. These can be quite amusing but to others insulting. Dancing Mingers is of weird facial expressions whilst people are dancing.
Multiple Mingers are pictures ...
