HTC Incredible S - great if... |
|---|
I ordered a HTC incredible S from mobiles.co.uk on the o2 network as they offered a very competive deal. The service received was very good and the handset arrived very quickly.
I realised after a few days of use that I wasn't receiving all calls, in fact all calls from any other mobile were going straight to voicemail. Calls from landlines were received ok.
After checking all my settings Mobiles.co.uk said it was a network problem. 02 said they didn't think so but gave me a new SIM card to try.
This did not work and mobiles.co.uk arranged to collect my handset and send me a new one. I accepted that I would be without a phone for a couple of days as these things happen. However they messed up the collection day and it ended up going over the weekend and I was without a phone for about 5 days.
My new handset seemed better as I was receiving mobile calls, but it prevailed after about a week that I would at times have both calls from mobiles and landlines go straight to voicemail. Note this occurs when I am sitting at my desk at work in a strong signal error and never experienced problems with any previous phone in the last 8 years.
I spoke to mobiles.co.uk again asking to change device offering to pay a higher line rental to get a phone that worked. I could not do this, but they would happily swap for the same phone again. I enquired if anyone else was experiencing the same problem having purchased a HTC incredible S recently and was told that no-one else had returned the phone for that reason. I explained I had seen a lot of forum comments complaining of the same problem but they said they had not heard or come across it before.
I agreed to exchange the handset again, hoping for the best. Mobiles.co.uk said there was nothing they could do in terms of offering a different phone, but as there was a 30 day policy I could have a new phone every month so long as it was the same one. Not exactly practical.
Third phone same problem.
I discovered on various forums that the only way to fix the problem was to turm off 3G. Yes this works, but not exactly ideal to keep changing the settings everytime you need an internet connection!
I feel that mobiles.co.uk should be aware of this fundamental problem with a popular handset manufacturer and discontinue it from the stock list.

The review is more about the actual phone rather than the company you purchased it from.
