I recently came across this website purely by accident but I'm very happy I did! It is safely stored in my favourites and is one of the first places I look at when I log onto the internet.
Money Saving Expert (MSE) is basically, as the name suggests, a website that give lots and lots of tips about how to manage your money from how to dripfeed money into a regular savings account to when to buy petrol in order to get the most for your money.
I wont go over all the little bits of the website as if I did then I would be here for a long time. I will, however, talk about my favourite parts of the site.
The first page I always look at is the "Quick! Grabbit while you can" thread. This is a forum where people post bargains that they have found instores or online. There are always things I want to buy from here and I really need to be strict in order to limit my spending. You'll find all kinds or bargains here from cheap eggs and milk to televisions. There are always people commenting on and recent additions and if you have a question then it is normally answered very quickly by someone.
Another popular forum is the "Competitions Time" forum. This is just a list of competitions that are happening every week. These are sorted by what you could win and they all contain a direct link to the particular website they are referring to. Most of the competitions where you need to answer a question have the answers which make it even easier for you. Some of the competitions require registration but often they don't so it only takes a few minutes to enter.
I also like looking at the "Discount Codes 'n Vouchers" thread. Again, its not hard to work out what this is! Here people post different codes and vouchers to save you a bit of money when you are buying something. Some codes are only like £2 off but its better than nothing. Whenever I buy anything I always look here to see if I can save myself a few quid.
Other than the forums, there is the main MSE site which gives you plenty of advice on how to save and make money. It is constantly being updated with the latest news about which bank account is best and it also compares them showing you the possible pitfalls of each account. The same goes for things like credit cards, loans, insurance, etc.
I also like the fact that MSE have reviewed the different cashback websites and the mystery shopper websites to give you a good independent review of which one is best.
There are loads of different parts to the website and I have only covered a tiny amount. I definitely recommend having a look round the website. At worst you'll waste a bit of time but at best you could save yourself quite a bit of money in the future.
Finally I think it's worth saying that spam is very limited on the forums. It is normally quite obvious which posts are spam and people are quick to report it. This means that they don't stay on the site too long and clog up the site.
