Papillon
Advantages: Really drags you in to the emotion of it all
Disadvantages: Some may be put off by the lack of dialogue
...When I read this book as a young man, I was instantly captivated by the lead character's obsession with escaping whatevre the cost. Therefore, it was with quite a lot of trepidation that I first ventured to watch the film.
The premise of the film surrounds Papillon (Steve McQueen) and his imprisonment on the infamous Devil's Island. He makes friends with Dega (Dustin Hoffman) as he ceaselessly plots means of escape. Despite several failed escape attempts, Papillon refuses to have his spirit broken by his ruthless and humiliating captors.
If you are after a film with sparkling dialogue, you will want to give this a miss as there are long periods where not a word is spoken. However, the outstanding acting performances of McQueen and Hoffman more than make up for it.
Usually after reading a book, the film adaptation is extremely...

Papillons - the butterfly dog
Advantages: Charming, vivacious little dogs, full of personality and with a gentle spaniel temperament
Disadvantages: Very easy to spoil, and allow to become yappy
...I have now had my little papillon for 18 months, and am utterly enamored! When I first researched the breed, I was drawn to their spaniel breeding, combined with only moderate exercise requirements (1 - 2 miles walk, plus lots of inside and outside games, keeps mine very happy, although she will cheerfully tackle 5 miles+ with anyone prepared to accompany her), and their very low scores on hereditary problems such as hips and temperament. I chose my pup very much for temperament, having met her mother, and am still glad I did so, even though she has thrown up a few conformational faults that mean I really should not breed from her (a poor bite, mainly).
I had intended to buy a largish papillon, thinking that this would be a sensibly sized, but small, dog. I then fell in love with the tiniest in the litter, so tiny I was terrified...

The Strand Palace Hotel
Advantages: Location, toiletries
Disadvantages: Expensive if not booked through third party website
...I've stayed at The Strand Palace a number of times. I generally pay around £85 per night for a double room although I book through a third party as booking directly through the hotel seems to cost in excess of £100 per night.
I've no idea why it's listed as 2 star on here given that its 3 star everywhere else. The rooms are a decent size and always clean. The bathroom is stocked with Pascal Morabito toiletries which I appreciate. There's a tv with sky channels, pay wi-fi, hairdryer etc. The staff are very polite and willing to help.
With regard to location, the hotel is located on the Strand which is the prime hotspot for theatre-goers. It's very close to Covent Garden and there are a number of London guides provided in the room for those who are new to the city.
I have not tried the food at the hotel so I am unable to comment...

The Strand Palace Hotel
Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms
...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too.
Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly.
My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern.
I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower.
The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close.
The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

The Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton
Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food
Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated
...Introduction to the hotel:
The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre.
My experience of the hotel:
I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with a four poster bed, couch, satellite television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely modern bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. When we checked in the hotel staff asked us if we would like to upgrade to a room with a Jacuzzi batch for £10, we said no, but were a bit intrigued to find one anyways - they had obviously given our room away and were trying to get the extra £10 out...

A good hotel with Fantastic Staff and on an Amazing Beach
Advantages: Great Staff and Located on a Gorgeous Beach
Disadvantages: Food could become tiresome if you stayed too long
...) the restaurant will arrange a free pick-up from your hotel and drop-off after you're finished.
Do walk down the beach, but ONLY during the day. - Also it might seem rude but if you want the peace and quiet to relax on the beach you simply have to outright ignore those beach vendors (avoid eye contact and don's speak to them) otherwise you will harassed endlessly. You feel bad for doing it, but if you don't they will not stop trying to sell you something.

A SUPERB HOTEL .
Advantages: EXCELLENT HOTEL
Disadvantages: NOTHING
...Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC
My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times, always in March and yes you?ve probably guessed, it?s when Crufts is on at the NEC.
Strange but a few years ago you had to book wayyy way in advance to get a room but with this recession where all going through, getting a room is easy. I suppose the stick that Crufts came under last year didn?t help either but anyhow getting back to the hotel.
You can easily book a room and they vary in price from £120 to £220 depending on things such as lake view, breakfast included or evening meal and breakfast. But as March approaches then the room prices tend to rocket.
The room is a standard large bedroom and a bathroom.
What more to add to the room? It comes with TV, Kettle, Ironing equip, small table and 2 comfy chairs. We...

An Arty hotel
Advantages: Close to town centre and harbour
Disadvantages: Outside rather basic looking
...Bergen is known as a city with its feet in the sea and its head in the clouds and it also has the dubious award of being the wettest city in Norway! After visiting briefly last summer we decided to stop over in Bergen on our return home from a cruise on a Hurtigruten ship. Our travel agent booked us into the Neptun hotel and after a sightseeing tour on the coach from the port depositing people at other hotels we reached our destination. First thoughts was ?Oh No!? it was a large block, about 8 storeys high and the entrance I saw was to the underground garage, I much preferred the Radisson on the other side of the harbour. Expensive tastes I?m afraid! But it was only one night and after collecting our cases we discovered another entrance with ramp for wheelchairs and cases. Things were looking up and improved greatly as we walked into...

Not Just A/An Hotel, this is THE Hotel - Apparently
Advantages: Nice decor, good independent feel to the place
Disadvantages: A little bit noisy - but I suppose all city hotels are
...All divers will know that however much they might want to hop straight on a plane at the end of their dive holiday, that's just not possible. You need to spend a day letting your body recover from the diving before you can fly or risk all kinds of horrible medical conditions too awful to contemplate. After our trip to the Great Barrier Reef last July, we needed to find a hotel for our day of 'down-time' before heading back to Sydney.
Hotel Quest - or how to irritate the pants off Koshkha
I struggled to find somewhere because I couldn't afford to go back to the Hilton where we spent two nights on arrival because, lovely as it was, the deal I'd had there was a 'twofer' (two nights for the price of one) and I only needed one night. I set about trying to find somewhere decent and got really annoyed very quickly. Finding hotels drives...

Fantastic Hotel
Advantages: Fantastic Food
Disadvantages: Lifts are quite small
...When we decided to make a return trip to Benalmedina we opted to go to the four star Hotel Las Arenas as it was recommended by friends. It is slightly further out just opposite the Castle Bill Bill and when you cross the road it?s a flat walk all the way to the marina which is away from the large hills on which many of the other hotels are located.
Reception
On arrival check in was swift and at this time we opted to pay for a safety deposit box we were then handed the safe key and card key to room 524 and pointed in the direction of the lifts. On looking round reception it was laid out with tables and chairs and also had a grand piano, a small bar ,toilets and computers with internet access. There is a large board telling you about entertainment available during the day and at night. The whole area was laid out for wheelchair access...
