Konika-Minolta Magicolor with magical printed colours
Advantages: Vivid colours, reliable, prints beautifully
Disadvantages: Photo printing quality is only 7/10 in my rating
...We bought our Konika Minolta Magicolor 2350 laser printer four years ago. We use it at home but I print quite frequently. We decided to buy this printer because it is specially designed for optimal performance in Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and other environments as well. This was important for us, as I use Windows but my husband is an IT professional and uses several other operation systems on his computers and sometimes also he wants to print something. He worked for a company where there were a lot of printers of this type and he had really good opinion about them. This opinion hasn?t changed since then.
Price of the printer and cartridges
When we bought it, it was on offer, so it was ?only? £650. It was a serious discount because its full price is £900.
There are four cartridges in it plus the drum cartridge, we had to change...

The last of the all time greats.
Advantages: Enough spec for virtually any assignment, excellent handling, clear sharp viewfinder,Minolta lenses. full system back-up
Disadvantages: Slow flash sync speed, no manual shutter speed indication in viewfinder, discontinued.
...i've been interested in cameras since 1984 and was employed in the trade for thirteen years-so I know a little bit about them.
I first purchased an X-700 back in November 1984 at the princley sum of £177.90 from a long closed shop in Wolverhampton called Photomecca, which included a Minolta 50mm F1.7 Standard lens and a Minolta wide strap, and have owned two since-I have got through cameras faster than most people get through food. i was always chopping and changing my equipment for something better...or so I thought.
The first thing to bear in mind that altough automated for it's day, the Minolta X-700 would be considered a basic camera in todays terms. For example, manual wind and rewind, manual setting of film speed (DX Film coding had just been introduced on another Minolta camera the AF-E compact-the world's first) and manual...

Minolta compact 2 super binoculars
Advantages: Lightweight, easy to use, fairly compact, eye cups alter for spectacle wearers.
Disadvantages: Plastic body not waterproof
...I wanted to replace my old binoculars which had got tatty and were not working properly, for some decent, but not too expensive ones. In other words the best I could afford. I took some advice from the sales guy, who seemed to know what he was talking about and settled on these Minoltas. I like the clarity, the accuracy of the colours and the brightness of the image. The eye-cups spring in and out which helps if you wear spectacles, and there is a lens cap. Also in the box, a fairly run-of-the mill case with belt loop and neckstrap. I was a little concerned that the body is plastic, rather than rubber coated, as I spend a fair amount of time outdoors, but they are so compact, they easily fit into a coat pocket anyway, even if you don't have the case to hand. All in all I am very pleased with these good quality "budget" (£60...

Why the Pro's ignore Minolta
Advantages: None - judgment is somewhat clouded
Disadvantages: Please provide larger area the write in!
...sent the cameras to minolta for a quote. £120 to get the 700si rewinding film, nearly £300 to replace the mirror on the 9xi. This was actually more than the second hand value of the cameras (assuming they worked of course. I conveyed my dismay regarding the situation to the "powers that be" at Minolta but they were just not interested. This is why you rarely see a professional photographer with a Minolata camera. A footnote to this episode was that when I asked Minolta to return my cameras, only one arrived. It took Minolta another 3 months to get the other back to me. I now am back to Nikon. I would like to say Nikon service is good, but "touch wood" Ive never had a Nikon go wrong.
For sale
1xMinolta 700si and 1xMinolta 9xi - £40 for spares only!...

X20 - a little miracle at less than £100 !
Advantages: 3 x optical zoom. Good images. Robust plastic build. Audio and movie options. Runs on useful rechargeable AA batteries.
Disadvantages: No optical viewfinder (no great loss !). Needs a protector on lcd screen. Comes with only 8mb SD card.
...I took a look at both the Minolta Dimage X20 and the more expensive and fully featured Dimage Xt. (I had the Xt on trial for 2 days and have the X20 for a week. I have had a Fuji MX 1700 and currently have the brilliant Olympus C40 zoom.)
Build and Settings
The X20 has a robust plastic build and comes with a useful 1.6 lcd screen, audio and movie options, non-protruding 3 x optical zoom, flash and a self portrait mirror on the front. There is no optical viewfinder (but these can be very limited on small digicams !) and the lcd appears quite effective in most lighting conditions. The unit runs on AA batteries - therefore invest in rechargeables which are useful to have around the house anyway !
There are manual settings for white balance, exposure and flash and a menu system which is fairly easy to navigate. There are not...

Konica Minolta 2550 - a step up from the entry level printer
Advantages: Quality prints, quiet
Disadvantages: A little expensive to run
...The Magicolor 2550 is positioned as one of Konica Minolta's entry level colour laser printers, well almost entry level, as it offers some very nice features without taking the price of the device too high.
The specification on offer from this full colour model is a cracking 20ppm (pages per minute) in monochrome and 5ppm in full colour. The native resolution is 600dpi with a x4 dithering method which beefs this up to an effective 2,400dpi. The model on review here is the standard model, which has 128MB of memory, is network ready and offers Postscript 3 printer language in addition to PCL6 and PDF support.
The 2550DN which is the next model up adds a built-in duplexer and has 256MB of memory, it also adds Pictbridge support for direct connection of a compatible digital camera. Both models are capable of handling a monthly duty cycle...

Has worn well
Advantages: Cheaply available, good range of accessories
Disadvantages: Basic, limited features
...I have been using an X-300 for ten years now and am still very pleased with the results I get, and its performance. In comparison with a lot of other cameras it is somewhat basic, doesn't offer particularly fast shutter speeds and is quite heavy. However as far as a good starter SLR camera goes, I would recommend it. It is well built, and the only problem I have had in ten years has been the wind crank spring coming loose. I have used a 35-70mm lense on it and have got very good results, and Tokina lenses work just as well as Minolta ones but at a lower price. I have found it slightly unreliable for flash phtography, with no in-built flash, but otherwise have no complaints with it....

X-530
Advantages: Price/quality, look
Disadvantages: sensitive to interference
...,
Most people aim at good quality sound in PC's. Often good sound card is not enough and better speakers must be bought.
That means spending more money for good stuff, or less for cheaper brand. Not necessarily when considering
Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers.
First some esential tech data:
Total pow RMS : 70 Watts
Total peak pow: 140 watts
Cable lenght:
center:160cm
front: 140cm/180cm
rear: 450cm
Installation is as simple as possible and described weel in manual.
Very attractive design gives it professional look. Whole set is assembled with high quality components both
inside and outside. Unfortunately there are too many cables and subwoofer looks like attatched to big spiderweb,
however are quite thick and strong. Center, front, and subwoofer speakers cables are quite short; even for desktop
use lenght is...

X-RAY Pec's!
Advantages: Good family film
Disadvantages: The end of the franchise?
.....
So, X-Men - The Last Stand! Well not exactly, the final frame of the movie suggesting otherwise. As if the producers are really going to turn their backs on a multimillion dollar franchise successes like this in a hurry! It is the end for many of the original cast though, hero?s and villains alike as this particular trilogy comes to a spectacular end, and one by one they fall. Or is it? As we don?t actually see them fall through the narrative trap door they could come back. The Wolverine movie has seen one come back already.
That cop out aside I have really enjoyed this superhero ?threepeat?, the third film more than adequate, especially as it?s as not camp as the likes of the earlier batman movies and the like of the eighties. One good thing you can say about C.G.I and directors like Ratner is that it has livened up some...
