...Cyrus PSX-R Highly Regulated Power Supply: One could easily be excused perhaps, for being more than a little sceptical about the benefits of or, in particular, the ?value? of this somewhat plain-faced, apparently unexciting looking box of electronics. After all, it has absolutely no controls or switches whatsoever. Nothing to ?play? with at all - except of course, the basic electricity mains on/off switch situated on the rear panel. You cannot ?adjust? anything at all ? not even a volume control. I mean, come on, where?s all the fun in owning something as ?bland? and boring as this? The ONLY thing on the front panel of this Cyrus PSX-R ?thingy? is a tiny little standby/on LED (Light Emitting Diode), no larger than a ??. well? LED - which glows red when in ?standby? mode and green when ?on?. Really quite disconcerting for all us...

...This is a brill console the only problem being - it cant be chipped. You cab buy external clips but they are hard to find and i dont know if they are any good - does anybody have any idea. Worthy port of PSX classic

Advantages: Great levels, puzzles & action.
Disadvantages: Poor graphics. Sound issues.

...and spreading the game across more discs could have resolved the graphics issues. IOn particular the cgi quality is badly dated. Styles and silhouettes are used to cover the technical shortcomings, but in general although the cut scenes get the point across, they are little more than average. The sound is adequate for the game, but not outstanding, and sometimes comes across as crackly and poorly compressed. Admittedly the game has a weak plot, but that isn't why you play it. Instead it is strong in puzzle-solving, levels, action and atmosphere. In the PC version you can save at any point, making it easier to do puzzles one at a time and save after each stage. This makes the game much easier than the PSX version. Lara has a lower range of movement than in the later games, but she still swims, swandives and jumps. Tomb Raider's excellent level...

psx laser broken?

Disadvantages: Turning your psx upside down

...It seems in the early playstation models mainly the 1xxx series , The parts such as the laser wears down on every machine.If the laser fails dont buy another one which will set you back around £30 if you know the right people , all you have to do is turn your psx upside down on on a slant.The back of the laser unit (the black metal casing around the eye of the laser lens) slants down towards the back of your psx , just turn it upside down and if that doesnt work - prop it up at different angles and you will eventually get it to work. The reason it does is because of the materials used in the lasers construction. I hope sony right the situation with the psx 2....

psx2 can play backups

Advantages: top piece of kit and a massive improvement on the original
Disadvantages: have to import from japan or pay £100 more in the uk

...i bought a psx 2 imported from japan when they came out it works out a lot cheaper to import one than it will if you wait for the uk release on average about £100 difference once i had redieved my psx i was eager to know if it would play backups like the original one did as i have children who like to use the discs as frisbies i searced the internet untill i found a company which supplied a mod chip which will enable the psx2 to play backup cds with the use of a disc swap this has saved me a lot of money in damaged game discs i would advise anyone who is thinking of getting a psx2 to import one and get a mod chip fitted it will save you a lot of money in the long term....

The most recent film bein The World Is Not Enough (TWINE for short) and as expected the film was planned to be turned into a game for the N64 and surprisingly the PSX.
