Not for me

published 09/01/2008

I recently applied for ILA funding so that I could sit a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support course. Because I earn £17500, I was only awarded £100. However, to my frustration I have found out I am not allowed to pay the difference of £100 myself. If I'd been awarded the full £200 I'd have been able to do the course for free but because I was only awarded £100, I cannot pay the difference myself and therefore cannot sit the course...unless I want to pay the complete £600 myself. I think this is ridiculous as a wage of £17500 per year is not a lot when you've a mortgage to pay, and there's no way I can afford the £600 myself. I feel very let down by the ILA and this stupid policy.
