ok ok I'm 18 years old I'm at uni studying for a degree in computer science but that doesn't mean I am too old and mature for 4 cute little virtual pets, does it?
ok so may be it does, but still it was my ELDER sister who introduced me to this site...again a very intelligent girl, at uni in her 3rd year doing a degree in MATHS!!!
You see I think this might be a child's site, you look at it and you'd believe it is, but the truth is the majority of users are at universityneopets is a cult thing...
you create your pets, choose a colour and name for them, then you can buy them food, clothes, presents and increase their intelligence by reading to them...there is neomail so you can talk and chat with other users and billions of items you can buy usin neopoints (currency on neopets earned by playing games and finding it and winning stuff) like hair gel, t shirts and roller blades to give to your pets...
There is always something to do...and even if you forget about your pets for months on end they never actually die so you can just come back after the summer hoildays and pick up where you left off...
If you are a very active member of the site faeries will set you tasks...like I had one which was the Water Faery, she told me to find her "My diary" and you have to look around shops, and in the autions and buy her the book and she will increase your pets powers or skills...
My pets have pets of their own to play with and I have a shop that I keep well stocked to get rid of the books that I have read and all the toys my pets are bored with but you can also auction any stuff you've finished with or give it to another neofriend...my sister actually has her own themepark online for pets to visit, and when you set up your pets you automatically get a website to develop so you let everyone see your pet, these can be featured on the main site too if you make a really good one.
If you really want to you can take your pets to the battle dome...I've never done this because I like my pets and I know they have no powers (mainly because I use the site for the games not the pets) but you can buy them weapons a snow balls...like a poison snowball and a wet snowball and lob them at the oposing pet and if you win you gain skills and powers and all sorts of other stuff...
Also on the site they have competitions, like drawing competitions writing competitons and rewards for being at the top of the high score tables on the games...
I love the games...mainly Flash based, every night my boyfriend and I play best of three at bulls eye, bumper cars and deck ball, but there are hundreds of games and loads to do...
for my sisters 20th birthday, she was bought a neopets T shirt, it's really cute and cmae in a neopets bag with a load of stickers...it was quite expensive foe a T shirt but that was because it had to be sent from America, you can however buy loads and loads of stuff like soft toys and key rings...excellent stuff
Go on you know you want to join however old you are!!! You'll become addicted, to the games the site even Poogle racing, I'm turning into a gambler, wheel of fortune also has me hooked, but my pets are Soooooo cute, sadly you can't stroke them, but this is the only kind of pet you are allowed in my halls of residence!!!

Don't worry I'm 18 too and have already been a member for a year - although I was forced to leave it for about 4 months of that when the college banned the site since there were so many students who spent all thier time there! Good Op... TR

I think my neopet is probably dead by now. Oooops!!!! It's a good job they're not real!!! Also, it might give children the idea that they can starve their real pet half to death, then just shove loads of extra food down it's throat and it'll be okay again!! But my pet was extremely annoying, rather like his namesake. Miaaaaow!!

I have been on this site many times and i am nearly 23
Advantages: free, easy to use, lots of games and activities, safe for children Disadvantages: can be so addictive that you forget about the outside world
