For up-to-date news on the politics and stories behind today's educational standards and curriculum, the BBC have an Education Section with a search facility. This is all current affairs stuff about issues pertaining to Education in the British Isles so is less of a learning site but keeps you informed about the various problems and solutions within the system, as they happen. When I visited there was a piece about a lady who is fighting her local LEA about her 7 yr old son being SAT tested as she feels it is too stressful for children of this age, another on truancy and truancy crime, even that they are re-vamping the old Janet and John books to bring them up to the 21st Century.
There is a link to their tv guide, as well as other BBC sites, so you can go through to these as well, if you wish. This is a news site though, so the content is constantly updated, making it useful for parents and teachers to keep up with all that is going on in the field of education. Easy to navigate, easy to understand.
