COOGAN'S BLUFF - SPAGHETTI VS DIRTY HARRY
Review of Coogan's Bluff DVD by pc2308

Advantages: Good acting by Eastwood
Disadvantages: Poor quality film, low Budget, bad script

Coogan's Bluff is a very low budget film starring Clint Eastwood. Made in 1968 after his successful run of Spaghetti Westerns, Eastwood stars in two films in this year. Coogan's Bluff and Where Eagles Dare. The Producer / Director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, A Mule For Sister Sara, Escape From Alcatraz), used Herman Miller and co-writers Dean Riesner, Howard Rodmans script to bring to the screen through Universal Pictures - Coogan's Bluff. The film ...

The Original Hard-Nosed Cop
Review of Dirty Harry DVD by the_mad_cabbie

Advantages: A true classic.
Disadvantages: Clothes and hairstyles are somewhat dated!

...took the opportunity to include Dirty Harry as one of my selections. ~ ~ Certain characters have now entered cinema folklore and taken on almost iconic stature. Most everyone will have seen at least one "Rambo" movie with Sly Stallone, or one of the Harrison Ford "Raider" series. And then you have the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Bruce Willis in the "Die Hard" series, and Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon". It would be fair to say ...
...~ ~ The original Dirty Harry movie that the subsequent series was based on took the movie world by storm back in 1971, and caused a furore in the media worldwide. Back then the star, Clint Eastwood, wasn't the well-known and respected Oscar-winning actor that he is today. In fact, he was best known as a leading actor in Westerns, in particular the "Fistful of Dollars" series, and in the long-playing TV series "Rawhide". (1959 - 1966) So it was a ... Read review

Dirty Harry faces a crazed sniper named Scorpio.
Review of Dirty Harry DVD by filmfreak2005

Advantages: Clint Eastwood at his best.
Disadvantages: None to list.

...is the first of the Dirty Harry series, and in this film, Harry and the San Francisco police department face a lunatic sniper who names himself 'Scorpio' (Andy Robinson) . At the start of the film, Scorpio shoots dead a young woman who is taking a swim in a rooftop swimming pool. Scorpio demands a ransom of $100,000 or he will continue to kill one person per day. Harry is given a new partner in the form of Chico Gonzalez (Reni Santoni). Harry's ...
...then punches him. Also the Dirty Harry classic line is used twice in this film - 'I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? To tell the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world...and would blow your head clean off. You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?' A brilliant film with good solid performances from ... Read review

Strong, but with a few flaws
Review of Hulk DVD by sharky05

Advantages: Great graphics, enticing storyline
Disadvantages: a few dud lines, and the ending was too confusing

This is a strong movie, though perhaps not completely in the league of spiderman and batman. There is a strong element of marvel comics through the film, often with the director using multiple shots boxed in one screen to show different parts of the action occuring at the same time. This works really well for conversations, but can sometimes get distracting. The actors are of high quality and show emotion very well, though perhaps the script is ... Read review

We Were Soldiers
Review of We Were Soldiers (Wide Screen) by miniluver1990

Advantages: sound effects, true story, educational
Disadvantages: None that i can remember, pure class.

Overall, a very powerfull and compelling acount on the vietnam war. Based on a true story, Mel Gibson and his new infantry regiment get thrown into VC territory, massivly out numbered and at a huge disadvantage, the story follows on a powerful nature of war and loss of life, very gory in places, with excellent action sequences throughout most of the film and great sound effects keeping the viewer hooked to the screen. Keeping u transfixed until the ... Read review
