Advantages: cools instantaneously, uses less than 100W power, cools a large area, durable, very quiet
Disadvantages: initial purchase price although now much cheaper

At that time it cost 295 Euros (approximately £200) but I have no seen them advertised for lower prices, the cheapest being 220 Euros (approximately £155). Challenge Air Cooler. I brought this in the heat of the summer but still find it useful on cooler nights, It's an evaporative cooler this means you fill the unit's tray with water and it uses a rotating cloth pad that goes infront of the fan unit and blows the water/air mix producing a cooler air temperature. only got mine today 14 may but got it on i have got some ice packs that i use for the shopping so didnt have to wait it a nice little cooler only paid £25 for mine off ebay brand new there are loads all you do is unpack fill with water and ice cubes and put the ice packs in the water and switch on you can feel the cold air straight away very easy to use there are 3 speeds low meduim and high the water is carried to the blower by a cloth belt there ... Well where do i start? I bought this air conditioner last week and was that impressed that i had to have it put on Ciao, so i did and here it is! I bought this from Argos and it was £169.99, which is a little pricey, but hey it does the job. This could be used as humidi and to get the best of its cooling, keep on window and it also uses water to cool as it passes over a wet pad.
