United, Never Again...
Review of United Airlines - UAL by
Captainbirdseye2
Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: Food Quality, Customer Service
...vegas. I ended up choosing United Airlines, booking online via their site.
Anyway everything was going swimmingly until we turned up at the airport only to find the flight had been cancelled. Now I know these things happen, but I know for a fact that the plane hadn't even left Chicago, and they didn't tell us. The flight was even shown as on time on the website, it was only at the last minute they told us it had been cancelled. If we had known we ...

Money for Nothing
Review of United Airlines Mileage Plus by
mjg3579
Advantages: Free Scheme
Disadvantages: Its Free - what more do you want!!!
...couple of years ago with United Vacations. The reservations agent advised that I should join Mileage Plus. Yeah whatever, but did it anyway.
Went to the United Airlines website and had a better look at it. United Airlines is part of the Star Alliance, the worlds leading airline alliance. The Mileage Plus scheme is obviously centred around United Airlines, but you can "earn and burn" your miles on any of the Star Alliance carriers: bmi british midland, ... ...example, I took out the United Airlines Mileage Plus Gold Card and earned an additional 6000 miles last year, recommended 3 friends to the scheme and earned 15000 miles, and 1 round trip economy to the USA gave me 8000 miles. That would have been enough to earn me a free trip with bmi british midland to Europe. There are a lot of additional offers set up mainly for US residents, such as the ability to earn with telecom companies, and at thousands ...

UPS - Useful. Professional. Swift.
Review of United Parcel Service - UPS by
steerpyke
Advantages: A profesional, supportive and fast service.
Disadvantages: not unbeaten in all areas.
...one under the microscope here, United Parcel Services or UPS from here on in.
UPS has an interesting beginning when, in 1907, Jim Casey of Seattle borrowed $100 to set up the American Messenger Service, employing teenage message runners and despite stiff opposition, their policy of courtesy, round the clock operating and low rates made the company a success. In 1913 the break though occurred when they bought their own car and moved into transporting ... ...By the twenties they had acquired the name we know them by today and were streaking ahead of the competition in terms of automated handling (conveyor belts) and a very modern account and billing system that replaced the old cash on delivery idea. By the nineteen fifties the company were using aircraft as part of their service, incidentally something they had tried as far back as 1929 but closed again due to lack of volume, and were so big that they ...

US Airways - inconsistency at its best!
Review of US Airways by
understatement19
Advantages: Service in the UK, Price and plane
Disadvantages: Staff in Philadelphia
...to describe my experiences with US Airways would be 'mixed bag' as in the last 3 months I've really had my highs and low's with this airline. The highs would be £700 + free round trip and luxury hotel accommadation in Manchester but the lows would be stranded in Philadelphia, stranded in Detroit and waiting 14 hours for a flight you were booked on, about to take off and still didnt make it. But I'll start at the beginning...
July 23rd, recently ... ...this lead my opinion on US Airways? Surprisingly I'm still a fan. Off the UK ranbranch of the company. They were superb in handling the over bookings and their hospitality was sublime. My experience of Philadelphia was torrid but Detroit staff were much more pleasent. Ultimately the trip was still amazing and if it wasnt for missing the warped tour I would have been content.
To conclude, just have your wits about you when booking with US Airways. ...

Kings of The Air? More Like Peasants
Review of Monarch Airlines by
Seagreen
Advantages: gets you from A to B on time
Disadvantages: pretty much everything else
*Overall, Monarch are terrible.
I used them on a recent holiday as part of the package, and would never fly with them again.*
Seat pitch - I'm 5ft 0 so don't normally care, but I was quite cramped, so it must be small!
I even got given an emergency exit seat on the way out, which had more space, but of course had people pushing by on the way to the toilet etc. all night. Very annoying. For that reason, if you're not 6 ft I wouldn't request it.
... ...but it was edible.
Monarch charge for drinks other than tea or coffee, and snacks except the meals. Prices are ridiculous of course. (They do generously give you free water, in tiny cups, though). And don't expect service, as I said - you'll have to go to the back to the stewards' area.
Entertainment - effectively none. You don't get the screen in the back of the seat in front of you which I thought was standard these days. These are old-style ...
