Review of A whole new world - Jordan - Katie Price by
jo_field26
Advantages: honest autobiography
Disadvantages: n/a
Being a fan of the autobiography this was another must read Jordan aka Katie Price has been through a lot in the past and her ever turbulent life. Following the surprise smash hit of last year, "Being Jordan", comes the next instalment in the life of Katie Price,' A top glamour model since the age of 16, she was an instant hit as a Page 3 girl, was the F1 Jordan team mascot for four years and even spent 3 weeks with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy mansion. ... ...her mind.
Katie is just a down to earth girl, struggling with kids and life, she has plenty of cash, but still normal everyday hassles like the rest of us. I love her honesty.
I got the book and I could not put it down.
This is an amazing book that leaves out nothing. She is a fab mother who has a lot of love for her children. Her book will leave you laughing and cringing. This is a definite must read! ...

Descent into madness
Review of An Unquiet Mind - Kay Redfield Jamison by
Trev15
Advantages: See Op
Disadvantages: See Op
...one of its many sufferers. An Unquiet Mind is the true memoir of Jamison's extended descent into 'madness'. Born into a middle-class American family, Jamison was blessed with prosperous parents, intelligence and self-confidence. But along with her father and elder sister, she was prone to periods of severe 'black' moods. Jamison accepted these episodes as just being part of her personality. . . until. . . by the time she had settled into her Doctorate, ... ...and vibrant disposition. An unquiet mind is a brave personal story, which, no doubt, could have cost the author dearly in terms of her professional life. It is not a book geared for certain groups but is for anyone with preconceived notions of mental health. Perhaps the most surprising aspect of all is Jamison's explanations of the positive aspects of her condition and the europhoria brought... As a result of this, her memoir is also an educational ...

Being Jordan, her life in her own words.
Review of Being Jordan - Katie Price by
Behindcitylights
Advantages: Easy to read, She doesn't hold anything (and i mean anything) back
Disadvantages: She does sound very bitter when describing certain ex's..
After reading her debut novel "Angel" which i (surprisingly) enjoyed i thought i'd try her autobiography after someone reccomended it to me. Now this certainly isn't an intellectuals dream but for those who want something easy and interesting to read it's perfect.
For anyone who's read her novel (and i really reccomend it, even friends who despise Jordan praise it) you will see simlarities, and her life is dramatic (abusive relationships, drink ... ...really interesting read.
In this book she's witty and down to earth, and its amazing to hear just what she's been through, wether you admire her or cant stand her you will definitely sympathise with all that she's been through, and you will certainly be wanting to know what happens next... ...

What a real Role Model should be
Review of Black, White and Gold - Kelly Holmes by
sewbizzie
Advantages: Great inspirational reading
Disadvantages: Bit long winded when she laks about other race competitors
Black White and Gold is the biography written by 2 times Olympic champion, Dame Kelly Holmes.
She starts the book in March of 2005 as she is sitting in a limousine driving towards the gate of Buckingham Palace. She is off to receive her Damehood and she says how surreal it felt and how she had to pinch herself to make sure it was really happening. She tells how she joked with the other people who were also their receiving their Damehood and Knights', ... ...to have the Queen place the sword on each of her shoulders, she tells them all she is going to kneel down anyway! As we all know she did not and she received her dame hood in the correct way!
We are then taken back to her early years and she tells how when her parents found out she was pregnant and had split up from her boyfriend they did not want her to have the baby but she went ahead and when Kelly was born her mother was given the choice of ...

Yet another autobiographical tale of woe...
Review of Dance for you Daddy - Katherine Shellduck by
marymoose99
Advantages: Passes a couple of hours
Disadvantages: Lacking substance
Please note Ciao have got the title slightly wrong, it is "Dance for your Daddy", not 'you'. And onto the review...
Introduction
I got this book as it was recommended to me on Amazon, so when it came up that there was a copy on BookMooch, I mooched it straight away, despite having a load of other books to read.
The front cover describes this book as "The True Story of a Brutal East End Childhood", and is said to be "Truly Heartbreaking" ... ...have read a lot of autobiographies of people's tragic upbringings and the like, so I was eager to get stuck into another tale of woe on my otherwise uneventful Sunday afternoon. It's not because I enjoy these autobiographies as such, but there's something quite compelling about them, and I can't stop reading them. And as I've said before, it's all research for when I write my autobiography!
The Author
Katherine Shellduck was born in the ...
