Karina
Review of Karina has Down Syndrome - Cheryl Rogers, Gun Dolva by bluejules

Advantages: *
Disadvantages: *

...book describes the developmental stages Karina reaches. As these are later than a typical child, I felt really pleased when she reached them. I felt as though someone was telling me about a child I knew, and I felt almost as emotional about it. There is also information about the professional help that Karina received in the early years of her life. I think this will be helpful to new parents of a child with special needs. There are contact details ...
...helpful to British parents) Karina has an older sister and a younger brother and I enjoyed reading about the family as a whole even though the book is focused mainly on Karina. It was nice to read how the family coped and I enjoyed reading about things they did together. ~ What did I think and would I recommend it? ~ I really enjoyed reading this book. It was nicely written and I was interested in learning about the development of this lovely ... Read review

A Kate to Remember
Review of Kate Remembered - A.Scott Berg by ickkate

Advantages: A personal sketch of a vigorous woman filled with plenty of insight and information
Disadvantages: It may not have quite the objectivity some might want from a biography and glosses over her later television films

...career, Berg talks about the Kate he knew. Although this may have been the older woman, he still manages to sketch the younger Hepburn in a way that doesn't way her down with the older woman's baggage. Although, many of the descriptions of her early years seem to weave in and out of stories about the aging yet vigorous character he knew. This somehow manages to make you feel closer to the real Kate as she is also allowed to comment on her younger ...
...times Berg's intimate portrayal of Kate does also prevent it from having the objectivity that you might want from a traditional biography. I did feel that occasionally it lacked a little detail in her early years. Despite covering a good number of her films in good detail, including descriptions that suggested which were the stronger and which were the weaker of her films, I also wanted to know a little more about the "weaker" television films that ... A Cautionary tale
Review of Katie.com - Katherine Tarbox by hollywoodmum

Advantages: may highlight internet dangers
Disadvantages: it's rubbish

I got this book from readitswapit.co.uk, the guy that wanted to swap with me didn't really have any books I wanted to read on his list but this looked like the most interesting one. The Blurb Aged thirteen, Katie Tarbox met 'Mark' in a chat room on AOL. He said he was a 23 year old college student in California; he recognised her 'as someone different from a typical 13 year old' she says. In his eyes, she seemed sophisticated and mature. Within ...
...he heard about her 14th birthday and listened to her play piano when her family wasn't home. He always supported her and encouraged her. She was a top student and a nationally ranked swimmer, but where most of the adults in her life - parents, coaches, teachers - told her to work harder and be better, he made her laugh. eventually, he made her feel loved. After six months, Katie agreed to meet him on March 12th 1996, when she was in Texas with her ... Read review

Jodie Marsh.Keeping it real
Review of Keeping it real - Jodie Marsh by rosierozi

Advantages: Juicy book, with tons of gossip!
Disadvantages: May set younger readers hormones into overdrive!

I have not wrote a review for a while on here,so I thought i'd give it another go. I must admit I havnt achully picked up a book for a number of years and after getting back into the swing of things by reading 'Wuthering Heights',I decided that I'd give a book a go that didnt drain me of every tear I had to cry,and would be a little more 'easy reading'. I picked up 'Keeping it real' on Ebay for 1.60p,which I thought was quite a bargain,as if I ...
...I also thought that the title 'Keeping it real' was a bit of a laugh due to the way Jodie looks!..sorry! I achully take that back though after reading it thoroughly. You may wonder who Jodie Marsh is?,Well shes basically a girl thats famous for partying all night, having strings of relationships with celebrity men and basically rivalling Jordan in the 'How much flesh can you flash'? stakes. This book promised to be juicy reading, and it certainly ... Read review
