Valentino Rossi - What if I had never tried?
Review of Valentino Rossi: What If I Had Never Tried It - Valentino Rossi by coolerking918

Advantages: A must for all fans
Disadvantages: None

The now 7 times world motorcycle champion gives a frank and honest account of his time with Honda and his move to Yamaha. He also gives a fascinating insight into his childhood times in Italy and his introduction to motorcycle racing by his Father, himself a racer. The first half of the book tends to deal with the unbelievable choice(at the time) to move from the all conquering Honda Racing to the struggling Yamaha. Tired of the assumption that ...
...Rossi decided to take the world on and prove them wrong(as we now know he has). His rivals at the time gloating at the fact may just be eating humble pie right now. Some amazing accounts of how multi million pound deals were taking place in the dead of night, hidden away in race track medical centres !!!! Truly unbelievable, but as you get a feel for the real Rossi you soon see it as not so far fetched. You really feel that you know the man behind ... Read review

my story, dave pelzer
Review of My Story - Dave Pelzer by niegordon

Advantages: very moving, very gripping
Disadvantages: very upsetting

This trilogy shows a man growing from strength to strength as he over comes the tragedy of the abuse in his youth. Dave Pelzer's imagery and language gives a clear picture of what he went through as achild, without the accusatory air that normally come from these biographies. It is a hearty wrenching story of a little boy in the midst of violent world, and will not have anyone unmoved, a box of tissues is definately required to accompany it. It's ... Read review

Gerrard - Writes As Well As He Plays...
Review of Gerrard: My Autobiography - Steven Gerrard by jonwebb5

Advantages: Very well written, detailed, gripping, provides a unique insight into many areas of football
Disadvantages: None

When you pick up an autobiography, chances are you're going to be at least a bit interested in the person on the cover. So, it will be primarily football fans who read Gerrard's book; certainly, as a lifelong Liverpool fan, I was extremely interested in what the hero of many had to say. I was blown away by the quality of this gripping book, which kept me glued from start to finish. It is interesting, honest, and provides an insight into one of the ...
...the actual content, but there is never a dull moment. There is a wealth of content of Steven's childhood, always the most interesting part of an autobiography, which reveals the inspirations and deep relationship with football that he forged from birth. Particuarly for Liverpool fans, the book provides a wonderful insight into the workings of the club. Other readers will also be interested in the goings on of the Premier League, and the wonderfully ... Read review
