waste of money
Review of Morphy Richards 48200 by
Katkin2
Advantages: resultant bricks can be used to build useful patio features
Disadvantages: waste of time, effort and money trying to bake anything
I bought my breadmaker around 3 years ago and have never had anything remotely resembling a decent loaf from it in all this time. The usual results are dense, sweet, chewy, flat and overly crusty. It cost me £99 when bought new (they were still a novelty back then) and I ought to have sent it back straight away but kept thinking it was me, the flour, the yeast.... I've tried a number of special flours but the outcome is still a flat, tasteless mess. ...

I don't normally jump on the gadget bandwagon but i saw these being heavly advertised about 3 years ago and i fell into the trap of thinking i would become mrs domestic baking my own fresh bread so my mum bought me one for christmas. So about 2 weeks later i remembered i had it and decided to give it ago.

Something corny about bread, sliced and best
Review of Morphy Richards 48210 by
marsden
Advantages: Great appearance and great bread
Disadvantages: Being a pants judge of measure
...and stainless steel so the Morphy Richards 48210 Breadmaker was perfect. As it was a gift I'm unsure of the price but having checked around I gather it would have cost about £60 to £70.
I ripped open my box and began removing the contents. Out came a breadmaker, an instruction book, some measuring tools (a cup and two spoons), the bread pan and the mixing blade. Forgive me for mentioning this, but I was becoming a sad excited woman at this point.
... ...without looking at the instructions but because it's so simple I think even my cat could do it. This particular beauty makes four sizes of loaf: 1lb, 1&1/2lb, 2lb and 2&1/2lb. Yep, means nothing to me either but I suppose it's xsmall, small, med and large. I normally make the 1lb loaf which is fine for a person living on their own (ok so I'm a lonely frustrated sad woman too).
And, get this, you too can make your own jam!! I was scaring myself now, ...

Drop down dough hook problems.
Review of Morphy Richards 48268 by
doughhook
Advantages: None over other machines.
Disadvantages: Larger holes after removing hook
We have been using breadmaking machines for 10 years.
Needing a replacement machine we liked the idea of a drop down dough hook, which hopefully would alleviate the one problem with these machines, the hole in the bottom of the loaf.
However, after two weeks of use, about 6 loaves, I would regard this feature as a total failure.
The hook is a loose fit on the drive spindle, and the hook has so far been well impregnated in the loaf on every occasion, ...

As good as it can get
Review of Panasonic SD206 Breadmaker by
jyo76
Advantages: Ease of use, cleaning and make good bread time after time
Disadvantages: Takes a while
Excellent Product! Like most Panasonic products the bread maker is well made and serves its purpose well. It can be easily operates with a simple menu and clear instructions are provided. There not much to do , you just put in the ingredients (follow the recipe book ) choose the programme and wait. It is a long wait 3-4 hrs but worth it. Apart from the various types of breads you can also make pizza dough and bake cakes. The bread may not be cheaper ...
