This chip is from AMD's last generation architecture using the 939 socket. Due to the new AM2 architecture being released, socket 939 chips have plummeted in price as they are no longer cutting edge. As one of the more standard - mid-high end processors available today, the 3ghz chip is useful for most average and moderately demanding programs and games. When coupled with the correct memory, and graphics card you cant really go wrong, however for users who demand the most out of their system it doesnt really fit the bill.
