Nice one
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 1.8 GHz processor by
dav987
Advantages: Pretty cheap, fast, very cool therefore overclockable
Disadvantages: none whatsoever
It's an amd, it says its a 64 bit athlon 3000+ but what does this mean in plain english!
Well first of all it is 64-bit which basically means that it is compatible with 64-bit operating systems and programs which is not necessary at the moment but in the future it will be.
Secondly, the name suggests the clock speed is 3.0GHz but it is actually clocked at 1.8GHz. The reason it is called a 3000+ is because that is the relative performance output, ... ...than say an athlon xp 1.8GHz, hence the name.
I have had one of these since January, i have had no problems with it at all, it is a lot cooler than the old athlons, mainly due to the new transistor size being 90nm rather than the old 130nm.
All in all a very good, relatively cheap INVESTMENT into a socket 939 system that will leave you with plenty of scope for future upgrades. ...

Do it with AMD!
Review of AMD Sempron 2400+ / 1.66 GHz processor by
rally1998
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, AMD
Disadvantages: Slowish compared to better CPUs
...have been brand loyal to AMD for many reasons, Customer Service is fantastic, The processors are fantastic, the prices for the processors are also...fantastic.
Compared to Intel:
These processors are here for the budgeters. The people who want computers for rock bottom prices. This processor is head to head with Intels Celeron processor, both of which AMD and Intel of various running speeds for these processors. These processors I believe are better ... ...up their clock speed (ghz) AMD are actually using their brains, by increasing the IPC the processor can get more things done at any one time, the added benefit of this is that the processor can run at a lower temperature becausw of the lower clock speed! this is why we get AMD Sempron 2800+ with a clock speed of 1.66ghz, The 2800+ merely indicates that this would outperform (hence the (+) at the end of the figures) an equivalent processor running ...

AMD Sempron 3000+(AM2)(1.6GHz)
Review of AMD Sempron 3000+ / 1.6 GHz processor by
DrDivvi
Advantages: Incredibly cheap, reliable CPU
Disadvantages: FSB+Cache could be better
...life much easier when the AMD X2 prices come down in the future, if you are planning to upgrade.
Although the FSB and cache aren't amazing, it wouldn't really be a cheap processor if they were, so I can't really complain about that.
If you're looking for a cheap, reliable CPU. Wether you're on a budget, or want something until the X2 prices come down, a Sempron is a recommended buy. ...

High performance with a low price tag!
Review of AMD Sempron 3200+ / 1.8 GHz processor by
clairearcher
Advantages: Excelent all round performance
Disadvantages: NONE!
...one for you. Once again AMD have produced a competitively priced CPU which more than rivals the offers made from Pentium. I have incorporated this particular CPU into a relatively low cost self build using 1.5Gb memory using the Windows XP OS. The results observed whilst using the ever greedy resource guzzling Microsoft Office 2007 were outstanding. Excel, Power Point, Word etc. were quick to open without any signs of the all to familiar whirring ... ...had no problems with handling video playback from DVD or with on-line streaming. I had installed a Freeview TV card into the same build which again the CPU had no problems at all handling, with no jumping or picture freezing. I frequently have TV playback on my PC at the same time as using MS Office with very little signs of a depreciation in overall speed of the system. To summarise a good value CPU for speed and stability. ...
