AMD Sempron 3000+(AM2)(1.6GHz)
Review of AMD Sempron 3000+ / 1.6 GHz processor by DrDivvi

Advantages: Incredibly cheap, reliable CPU
Disadvantages: FSB+Cache could be better

...life much easier when the AMD X2 prices come down in the future, if you are planning to upgrade. Although the FSB and cache aren't amazing, it wouldn't really be a cheap processor if they were, so I can't really complain about that. If you're looking for a cheap, reliable CPU. Wether you're on a budget, or want something until the X2 prices come down, a Sempron is a recommended buy. ... Read review

Nice one
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 1.8 GHz processor by dav987

Advantages: Pretty cheap, fast, very cool therefore overclockable
Disadvantages: none whatsoever

It's an amd, it says its a 64 bit athlon 3000+ but what does this mean in plain english! Well first of all it is 64-bit which basically means that it is compatible with 64-bit operating systems and programs which is not necessary at the moment but in the future it will be. Secondly, the name suggests the clock speed is 3.0GHz but it is actually clocked at 1.8GHz. The reason it is called a 3000+ is because that is the relative performance output, ...
...than say an athlon xp 1.8GHz, hence the name. I have had one of these since January, i have had no problems with it at all, it is a lot cooler than the old athlons, mainly due to the new transistor size being 90nm rather than the old 130nm. All in all a very good, relatively cheap INVESTMENT into a socket 939 system that will leave you with plenty of scope for future upgrades. ... Read review

E2140 - Awesome Budget Chip!
Review of Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 / 1.6 GHz processor by LRDMan

Advantages: Cheap, powerful, awesome overclocking
Disadvantages: Fairly small cache

I was looking for a low budget chip for a new computer, with decent overclockability, and after looking around, chose the E2140. The E2140 really is a great chip, whether its for a basic computer or powerful gaming machine, it can suit most peoples needs! At stock speeds, there is plenty of power for most daily tasks, which is great from a CPU that costs just £45, considering you can pay in excess of £500 for a processor. As well as performing ...
...managed to reach 3Ghz, on standard volts and cooling. This is an awesome overclocker, and very easy too. Overall, I would recommend this to just about anyone looking to build a fairly low budget PC. It offers great value for money, and with a little tweaking, it's power can nearly be doubled! ...
