Guide To Athlon64
Review of AMD Athlon 64 4000+ / 2.6 GHz processor by

...you O/C (Over Clock) an AMD 64 chip?
Like all CPUs, it depends heavily on the chip itself, the motherboard, the BIOS, your PSU (Power Supply Unit) and the kind of RAM you have, I.E. PC 3200; 3500; 4000+.
The general consensus that many first time AMD 64 users are having to deal with is that more often than not -- and there are always exceptions -- Is that many can not O/C a AMD 64 chip very far if it is running at 1:1 memory timings (asynchronously).
... ...be able to O/C your AMD 64 CPU very far unless you lower your RAM divider to 5:3 (166 MHz).
This isn't a problem because of chipsets or motherboard manufactures. This appears to because of AMD's very strict memory timing controllers that are built into the chip itself. This is exactly why some mother board's BIOS don't properly detect or allow booting of the system at 1:1 (I.E., 200 MHz for PC 3200) -- A VERY common problem across ALL chipset makers ...

Old but Powerful!
Review of AMD Athlon 64 FX 55 / 2.6 GHz processor by
meghead101
Advantages: extremely cheap now a days.
Disadvantages: out dated processor
A truely great processor of its time. If you still have a socket 939 motherboard and feel you want a bit more power before forking out hundreds of pounds for a new system then I definately recommend this. The FX-55 is a good overclocker, I have it with a DFI Lanparty nf4 SLi-DR Expert and have it comfortable running at 2.9Ghz with the fan it came with, and have had it up to 3.4Ghz with a vapour phase change cooling kit. All in all, i feel that this ...

Good CPU but at a price
Review of AMD Athlon 64 FX 62 / 2.8 GHz processor by
Conteo
Advantages: Fast, Very Fast
Disadvantages: Not worth the £££s
I bought this thinking it was the dogs, well it is, but wish I had bought a x2 dual core CPU for the same price, as this will be more helpful with Vista and other applications. I can't fault this CPU in any of the tasks that I need it for though, it breezes through Quake 4 and Prey with easy, in no way does it bottle my 7900GTX GFX. I think I will only feel the affect of not having dual core when it comes to running Vista in the near future. I would ...

Top Range Dual Core Processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 / 2.13 GHz processor by
TheTechGuy0
Advantages: Good clock speed, good video decoding and overall reliabilty
Disadvantages: Only 2 MB cache
The Core 2 Duo e6400 has many good features:
It uses a 1066 MHZ FSB (front side bus) for a fast link on the motherboard.
It 2 cores running at 2.13 GHZ
The Processor is very EASY to overclock; just be careful.
It is energy effecient and runs cool, unless you over clock
Not as good features:
2 MB cache low compared to others in the range
I found this processor to be excellent; it was extremely fast. With this processor there is no worry of ...

Great, fast, cheap
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
mop591
Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: hard to think of one
This intel dual core processor with 2.4Ghz speed (total speed of 4.8Ghz) with a 2MB Cache can handle an awful lot of demanding programs runnning at once and for the amazingly low price its a very good processor. This processor is also compatable with 64 bit computing.
It has an LGA775 Socket which is compatable with most motherboards (up to you to check these things) if you are looking to upgrade or build your own pc. If you are looking to buy a ...
