Great performer
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 / 2.66 GHz processor by AdamHonek

Advantages: Fast, quad core, cool running, guranteed G0 stepping
Disadvantages: Q6600 can be had for half the price for only 266MHz less performance

...can confirm this using the Intel Processor Identification tool on their website. G0 means it runs cooler than the older B3 stepping but also is bound to overclock more. The bad news is that i's 2x the price of a Q6600 for only 266MHz more performance. As long as you can get yourself a G0 stepping Q6600 there doesn't seem a point in spending double on this Q6700, unless you want the 10x multiplier for something. Anyone who does video/audio editing, ...
...extra cores will profoundly be delighted with this CPU. It makes such a more sensible buy than going dual core. Games and program that don't take advantage of all cores will steal yield a snappier system as the Operating System can spread the load more evenly so you can play a game + encode a video all at the same time without it impacting performance. Boxed versions come with a 3 year warranty, OEM versions come with whatever the merchant offers, ... Read review

One of best amd dual core processors
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ / 2.8 GHz processor by neo1983

Advantages: Fast enough, Stable, Low power consupltion in idle
Disadvantages: No room for overclock, High power consuption in full load

...the last good offers that Amd launched in the market to compete with Core Duo processors. My tested version is built on 90 nm tired and true fabrication technology and has several good points, that worth mentioning. The good stuff: The performance is good, overall loses to core2 duo E6600 but by small distance and are some applications that really work better on this processor. The stability is perfect never had a single system crash. The ease ...
...consumption on idle: 9w Low price The not so good stuff: Loses to many applications to core 2 duo E6600 Relative high power consumption in full load 84-87w No room for overclock, if you reach 3100 Mhz you're lucky Conclusion: one of best Amd processors today ... Read review

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750/ 2.66ghz
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 / 2.66 GHz processor by mazuk88

Advantages: Fast clock speed / Good amount of lvl2 cache
Disadvantages: Could balance out workload onto both cores a bit more

...may know this is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 / 2.66ghz cpu, It has 2 cores on the one chip. it runs with 64-bit architecture which then opens up a whole new world of 64-bit operating systems for tommorows technolodgy...this along with the fact it has 4mb lvl2 cache makes superfast repsonse rates to programs and files i have also noticed that their are not so many "cache misses" to which i expected so this pleases me the most :D The only downside is ... A good Compromise
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ / 2.6 GHz processor by Nate9090

Advantages: Multi-Tasking, Will Run Nearly All Aplications without a fuss
Disadvantages: Temp Could be a problem, Slightly sluggish on very high end Apps

This processor is good compromise for a person who wants a high end processor but doesn't want to pay the high price. Combined with a good system this little guy will run most games very well, however if you don't have a sound card and are using your motherboard's integrated sound expect a slight drop in performance. At rest my system's temp is about 30 degrees Celsius, but peaks up to 37-40 during heavy use. Temp is however very dependent on the ...
...how many fans you have and/or use water cooling. I have two computers with this chip and I find that it is quite satisfactory. I regularly play video games, download and play music, video edit, and dabble in a little bit of everything and I have not ever ran into a program that I could not run because of a slow processor. The times when I wished I had a slightly faster processor were few, and they were not enough for me to warrant paying the big ... Read review

AMD 4800+ x2 Dual Core Genius
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ / 2.5 GHz processor by dwspalton

Advantages: fast, runs cool, easy to install, cheap
Disadvantages: none

...Intel, with exception to an AMD 1800+ that was used as a home server. The reason for replacing my P4 HT 3Ghz was due to the motherboard systematically failing when the USB devices are connected. When you buy the retail box, you do get all you need for the processor - Heat-sink and fan - Processor (all 939 pins of it - counted of course) I can recommend getting some thermal grease. This acts as sort of a small barrier between the processor (where ...
...fan (to disperse the heat and keep it cool). I'm a person that will build a pc and take it apart just to build it again. When installing processors, there is a small gold triangle on one corner that aligns with a triangle on the motherboard. This must be aligned or else you with break the Processor and montherboard. I put this processor into a GIGABYTE G52S-S3P mother board and was set to go in about 30 mins. I also use 2 GB PC-5400 Coasair XMS2 ... Read review
