if you want cheap there's a reason why
Review of Intel Celeron D 356 / 3.33 GHz processor by
sim_simian
Advantages: cheap, reliable good for everyday tasks.
Disadvantages: you can't expect too much
Got this processor in a cheap Medion pc (from tescos £300) about six months ago was intially very impressed by the frequency 3.33 ghz which sounds good. However this is deceiving to the performance of the cpu i.e. though it handles simple pc tasks such as non demanding things like the internet it often slows down and nearly constantly runs at 100% frequency or quite near that level. Game performance with this cpu is poor and will lead to low fps ... ...cache size 512k, adequete cache size is one of the main neccesitys for good pc gaming and intensive applications. In conclusion value for money but you get what you pay for, if your thinking of upgrading i'd delfinately go for a dual core processor for the sake of twenty pounds extra. ...

standard office chip
Review of Intel Celeron M 540 / 1.86 GHz processor ( mobile ) by
djshauny2
Advantages: cheap and affordable
Disadvantages: standard and not graphic intensive
This is an entry level chip for notebooks, its 1 mb cache makes it faster than its predecessor and is built for running cool in notebooks. It is however designed especially for the office environment as it makes running word and excel smooth. Its a stable little chip and boasts long time life and will outlive most of the components. If you are looking for affordability and basic computing power this chip will do the job. This chip however will not ...

E4300 King of Overclocking
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 / 1.8 GHz processor by
piotrekpol
Advantages: high overclocking, dual core
Disadvantages: none
This cpu is very cheap and gives more power overclocked then any other core 2 duo processor
I am using Scythe Infinity to cool it down and on 1,5V it is running at 3,6 GHz 100% overclock
My motherboard is Asus P5B Deluxe WIFI/AP
All fans in my PC are running on 5V not 12V so it is very quiet, 120 mm fan on scythe infinity runs on 5V as well
After overclocking all benchmarks and ratings doubled leaving behind all dual core cpu's
Temperature of ...

Q6600 2.4GHz CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
kathymoger
Advantages: Blistering speeds
Disadvantages: Ideally needs Vista 64 bit but few software compatibility probems
Intel have really got it right with this CPU. It was easy to install and runs like a dream. To take real advantage of the power of this CPU it really needs the Vista 64bit version and there are few software compatibility problems now so it is worth taking the plunge. I've never seen software install so quickly on a PC as with this processor and running Windows updates, background tasks, processor hungry games etc. just doesn't have an impact on the ...

My experiences with the X2 6000+
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ / 3 GHz processor by
moss1234
Advantages: Price, performance
Disadvantages: Heat
A brilliant processor, can run the latest games with ease. Brilliant value too! I play the likes of crysis and cod4 seamlessly with this processor.
There are a few things you must be careful of though, first of all this processor gives out a fair amount of heat! I dont feel that the supplied fan is good enough, but that could just be because of my cramped case. Secondly, the edges are sharp! I cut myself while installing it. Be careful!
This is ... ...it didnt complain at all. Thats with an aftermarket cooler though. I upgraded from a single core and was surprised the massive difference it made.
So, in conclusion, this is a very impressive cpu for an appealing price!
Just look at the ciao price comparison and you will see it available for £75! a bargain. I bought mine at £100. I wish i had found ciao then! ...
