Pentium 4 - 2.2Ghz
Review of Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz processor by
DigitalThing
Advantages: Performs Well
Disadvantages: Expensive
...release early in 2002, both Intel and AMD are settling back into the standard pattern of trying to beat the other to the punch. Intel impressed us with the Pentium 4 Northwood, as well as jumping a full 200 MHz with the Pentium 4-2.2 GHz. AMD followed this up with their Athlon XP 2100+, which once again had the juice to slip by the fastest Intel had to offer.
The last shot was fired by AMD, so naturally it should be Intel's chance to step up to ... ...of 66 MHz incremental releases, Intel continues to lay down the hammer 200 MHz at a time, and at some point the performance deadlock has to break. The Pentium 4-2.4 GHz is a standard Pentium 4 based on the Northwood core. This means a 400 MHz FSB (front-side bus), a 0.13-micron die, and 512K of L2 cache. The release of the 2.4 GHZ Pentium 4 does not herald the arrival of the 533- MHZ FSB nor any Intel platforms supporting any of the new DDR333 or ...

Words of a hardware idiot.
Review of Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHz processor by
Skyth
Advantages: games; mpegs
Disadvantages: current apps aren't that good
There is nothing more satisfying than sitting in front of a 1.6GHZ P4 and starting a new Quake III game. Graphics run liquid smooth, its like mercury being drained at 1074x768 16 bit color resolution. Ecstatic, yes. Worth the 2k system? Hell yes. If games are your priority when buying a new system.
With its recent release the new Pentium-4 chip has given hardware geeks more than ample justification to babble on and on (ducktape, please). Check www.tomshardware.com ... ...benchmarks. Its hard to skim through all and get any sense of what is going on, so I will just give you my own conclusions.
P4 is slick. Perhaps a better modified AMD that costs 500$ less can beat it in current applications, yet we had the same arguments being outspoken when the MMX technology first came about. The new chip is revolutionary in that its instruction set is completely different from its forefathers. While PII and PIII had much in common, ...

Q6600 2.4GHz CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
kathymoger
Advantages: Blistering speeds
Disadvantages: Ideally needs Vista 64 bit but few software compatibility probems
Intel have really got it right with this CPU. It was easy to install and runs like a dream. To take real advantage of the power of this CPU it really needs the Vista 64bit version and there are few software compatibility problems now so it is worth taking the plunge. I've never seen software install so quickly on a PC as with this processor and running Windows updates, background tasks, processor hungry games etc. just doesn't have an impact on the ...

My experiences with the X2 6000+
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ / 3 GHz processor by
moss1234
Advantages: Price, performance
Disadvantages: Heat
A brilliant processor, can run the latest games with ease. Brilliant value too! I play the likes of crysis and cod4 seamlessly with this processor.
There are a few things you must be careful of though, first of all this processor gives out a fair amount of heat! I dont feel that the supplied fan is good enough, but that could just be because of my cramped case. Secondly, the edges are sharp! I cut myself while installing it. Be careful!
This is ... ...it didnt complain at all. Thats with an aftermarket cooler though. I upgraded from a single core and was surprised the massive difference it made.
So, in conclusion, this is a very impressive cpu for an appealing price!
Just look at the ciao price comparison and you will see it available for £75! a bargain. I bought mine at £100. I wish i had found ciao then! ...

Great processor for Office use
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3400+ / 2.2 GHz processor by
marijndeug
Advantages: great for office use. endures high temperatures. has average life of 5-10 years
Disadvantages: can not be used for gaming purpose. Windows Vista might not work
This is an absolute great processor for office use. It can bear very high temperatures, and with the right motherboard and bios it can be overclocked easily. Works great at Windows XP when using word, internet, reading your e-mail etc. (office use). When this processor is installed properly and doen't have to endure very high temperatures it will have probably a lifetime of 5-10 years (maybe even longer). I used it for about 7 years and never got ...
