Stihl Chainsaw
Review of Stihl 039 Farm Boss" chainsaw" by
Facelessangel
Advantages: excellant saw, great for garden useage
Disadvantages: quite pricey
This is a great chainsaw for household use although for commercial use it cannot take the battering a more hardy model could do . It is great as an introduction saw and ideal for small trees. it is important to remember to wear the correct safety clothing whilst using this and the in box instructions are not that noticable. It runs best with a ratio of 50:1 although the manufacturars guidelines state 60:1. They are easy to maintain and to service ...

A Cut Below the Rest
Review of Stihl 046C by
Aspen
Advantages: A very effective tool in the right hands.
Disadvantages: Doesn't bear thinking about. I've seen the results.
...And, yes, this is about Stihl saws. And I will give my opinion on the actual product, which I know well. But later.
Firstly, may I just point out that after the motor car, the chainsaw is the most lethal weapon you are ever likely to possess.
As a landscape contractor, I had to undergo two days of intensive training, followed by a stringent test, before being certificated to operate a chainsaw. Most hire companies these days, having fallen foul ... ...lost a leg.
Stihl is the only professional saw listed here, among a selection of dangerous toys. In the right hands, a Stihl saw is a powerful, reliable tool, albeit that Stihl are more noted for masonry saws. And are renowned in the trade for being heavy, unwieldy, and off-balance. In specific terms, and for these reasons, I suggest you look at Husquevarna or Jonsered. But before you rush in, know what grade of work you want it to do. A 25cc with ...

MS200T STIHL TOP HANDLED CHAINSAW
Review of Stihl Chainsaw MS200T by
chainsaw11
Advantages: LIGHT POWERFUL
Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE
A fantastic piece of kit for the tree surgeon. A powerful chainsaw and really the only one you need. Easy to maintain and keep clean, the fuel which is 2 stroke and the chain oil are accessable by quick release caps, you have a combination tool which will undo the one nut to take the side cover off to clean the machine. The power comes from the 35cc engine that fires up real easy and turns the chain at very high speed to get a clean cut. It weighs ...

jonsered 2165 16 in bar and chain
Review of Jonsered CS2165 by
jwarren1978
Advantages: power
Disadvantages: on off switch placement
jonsered 2165 turbo is a very good chainsaw. I use a 16 inch bar and chain to get the most out of my power to cut my firewood. My father has owned a jonsered my entire life. We burned about 15 cord of firewood a year to heat our house. I am 30. His last jonsered lasted 25 years. My fathet has also ran a 24 inch bar and chain to fell bigger timber. It works for this saws but of course takes alot of power. The saw starts in 2-3 pulls cold and 1 pull ...

Dire customer service
Review of Stihl MS 260 by
skier-hughes
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: no customer service at all if things go wrong
I'd never buy another Stihl anything again after the way I've been treated. Very Briefly. Bought a chainsaw in 2005. Used it sparingly for domestic use cutting a few branches for my log fires. It broke. Wouldn't oil the chain. Was told by service agents that a bearing had broken and this had hit the casing, cracking it, causing oil to flow out and not into lubricating the chain. Cost as much to replace casing as buy new one. I phoned Stihl, they ... ...bearing and clutch parts. Stihl eventually picked up saw for checking. 3 months later and they still haven't told me what's wrong with it. I even had an email 11 days ago saying that it had come back from the workshop and I'd have another email in the next day or two......... I've sent emails requiesting an update they just get ignored. I've been without my saw for over 6 months now. I emailed the MD, he deleted my mail without even opening it. Stihl ...
