ABC.... Easy as 123!
Review of Abc Zoo - Rod Campbell by neenn

Advantages: Introduces lots of different animals. Clear illustrations!
Disadvantages: Insufficient lift-the-flaps opportunities!!

...' Boo! We know our abc - do you?' Given that there are 18 pages, there are only 5 'flaps' to lift…. Slightly disappointing. ►►► Illustrations ◄◄◄ The illustrations are simply done but very appealing to pre-school children. Rod Campbell has varied the format from page to page, i.e. 1,2 3 or 4 animals on a double page spread. ►►► Educational Values ◄◄◄ • Introduces / ...
...cover states: 'A lift-the-flap book ABC Zoo' I hasten to add that I still bought it, given it's other educational values but I feel that there could have been more! ►►► Price ◄◄◄ My paperback, ISBN: 0-14-055560-9 was £4.99 However the following are available from amazon which are considerably cheaper even when taking P&P in to consideration! ~ Paperbacks from just 1p! ~ Boardbooks from 98p This book is also ... Advantages: Great fun read for children
Disadvantages: None

Albie and the Space Rocket is a book which my boys love to read. THE STORY The story begins with Albie being tucked up in bed and sleeping when something suddenly takes his bed away from him. He goes downstairs to investigate. In the downstairs toilet he finds two moose dancing the tango but no toilet. Albie then goes into the kitchen where he finds a zebra who has a cupboard full of his zebra friends. Albie continues to search for his missing ...
...toilet! The elephants tell Albie that he cant have the things back as the rocket is almost ready for blast off to the planet Jupiter. Albie asks if he can have his bed back and the elephants tell him to ask the colony of penguins who are standing behind him. Will Albie get his bed back or will the space rocket get to Jupiter? You will have to read the book to find out!!!!! MY OPINION My boys love listening to this story and have fun finding ... Read review

A lot more than meets the eye . . .
Review of Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll by drewish

Advantages: Wonderful, enchanting read for all ages.
Disadvantages: Very weird, and a bit dated.

Alice in Wonderland was written by Lewis Carrol, the pseudonym of a maths professor called Charles Lutwidge Dodson. There is a famous story of Queen Victoria, having read Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, ordering her courtiers to bring her everything that Lewis Carroll had written, only to receive a pile of mathematical papers! Suffice it to say that there are a lot of mathematical puzzles hidden in his work, so that beneath the ...
...its references to chess). Alice in Wonderland is that rarity - a children's book that can be read on many levels. It has brilliantly crafted nonsense poetry, of which "the mouse's tale" - a beautiful shape poem in the shape of a mouse's tail, "Jabberwocky" - brilliant verbal fireworks - revelling in the enjoyment of playing with the English language for the sake of it, and the Walrus and the Carpenter (from 'Through the Looking Glass') are probably ... Alice Through The Looking Glass- Lewis Carroll
Review of Alice Through the Looking Glass - Lewis Carroll by ironic_anathema

Advantages: Very fun to read
Disadvantages: None!

...book as the first one, Alice in Wonderland, and it's definitely in my Top 10 list of favourite books. From the surreal train journey at the beginning to the whole journey across the chess board, it's brilliantly absurd! Not just for children, because teenagers and adults can also get a lot out of it...maybe you can try reading between the lines to find Carroll's hidden messages. It's not just a kids' story! In addition, the characters are appealing ... Read review

Where's the review? Here is is!
Review of Animal Hide and Seek (Farmyard Tales Touchy - feely S.) - Stephen Cartwright by glitter-fairy

Advantages: Nice book to read, bold colours and textures.
Disadvantages: The price might put someone off

...Touchy-Feely Farmyard tales book titled Animal Hide-and-Seek. It is written by Jenny Tyler and illustrated by Stephen Cartwright and is a touchy-feely book with lift-the-flaps. This means it's textured on each page and has the lift-the-flap pages that all children love. There is also a little yellow duck to be found on every page (as in all of the usborne farmyard tales books). It's a hardback book and each page is in hardback too which makes ...
...book is suitable for 2-3 years of age to read as the words are in a nice big and bold print. My little boy loves having this book read to him as he can hold the pages without them tearing (he is 5 months) and feel the different textures. FARMYARD TALES I mentioned before that this book is part of the Farmyard tales series. Usborne have many of the Farmyard tales books which all follow the same characters on the farm, they are: Poppy and Sam, Rusty ... Read review
