Chair ,we wish to go to the land of dreams!
Review of The Adventures Of The Wishing - Chair - Enid Blyton by
eyebright1234
Advantages: Lovely timeless stories with a little moral message too in some of them
Disadvantages: Magic chairs are hard to find
...years old, my mother read the Wishing chair to us ,one story each night before bed.
Molly and Peter are shopping in an antique shop when they are frightened by a sudden commotion. They sit together in an old chair and wish that they were back home and the chair lifts them up and flies out through the door and home!
They do try to send it back but it has decided to stay and so it becomes their own wishing chair!
They discover that the chair must ... ...and sometimes that is in the middle of the night. It is the children's secret.
One day they visit a Giants castle ,where they discover a poor little pixie who has been enslaved and they rescue him and take him to live with them in their playroom which is a big shed in the garden.
After that ,he always watches for the chair to grow its wings so that he can fetch the children from the house and perches on the back when they fly to a new adventure.

beautiful for all ages
Review of The Enchanted Wood - Enid Blyton by
courtneysmummy
Advantages: very easy read for all ages
Disadvantages: none
Enid Blyton is one of the most successful children's writers ever. Her prolific output of 700 books has been translated into more than 40 languages and sold in excess of 400 million copies worldwide.First pulication of this book was May 1939.
My mum was given this book as a youngster and then passed it onto myself when i was 10, I read it cover to cover and on finishing I started it all again.
This is a gorgeous fairy tale for you to read alone ... ...willing to sit and read the whole book to them.because once you have started they wont let you finish and you wont want to stop either. But in my own opinion it has gotten better over the years that I have grown up as I now understand more of the terminology used.
I feel that children under the age of about 10 will probably have more difficulty in understanding every word but none the less I dont feel it will go 'over thier heads'.As the characters ...

Take your imagination faraway!
Review of The Folk of the Faraway Tree - Enid Blyton by
kingbill
Advantages: Works the imagination. Excellent read.
Disadvantages: It has an End!
This is the third book in the faraway tree series and is written in much the same way as The Enchanted Wood and The Magic Faraway Tree.
All the same characters are in this book except Cousin Dick has been replaced by Curious Connie who is a spoiled little girl of the childrens mother.
If you haven`t come accross The Enchanted Wood or The Magic Faraway Tree I advise you read these two first as they are a series of books.
