Mallory Towers by Enid Blyton
Review of Mallory Towers - Enid Blyton by SebastiansMommy

Advantages: Enid Blyton
Disadvantages: old English language used. i.e. the use of "shillings" etc.

...classmates in their adventures at Mallory Towers each term by reading these marvellous stories created by Enid Blyton. From midnight feasts to playing tricks on the ever-unsuspecting and hot-tempered "Mam'zelle" and moonlit swims, each page holds a giggle and makes the imagination come alive. I would say the books are best aimed for children aged 7 years to 11 years, although if you find yourself buying this, you will most likely find yourself reading ... Read review

Nod Your Head And Make Your Bell Ring
Review of Favourite Stories (Make Way for Noddy) - Enid Blyton, Chorion CGI by belfin

Advantages: Goes well with the show
Disadvantages: Not the same appeal for me as the old Noddy books

***Background*** Noddy was originally created by Enid Blyton, who also gave us classics like The Famous Five, The Secret Seven and all those Tales Before Bedtime. She created a variety of books for children of all ages and I must admit to being a bit of an addict of her books when I was growing up. These days Noddy has become a bit more politically correct and certain characters have had a bit of a makeover and change of name. In the old days it ...
...it is the Goblins. I understand the need for the change in today's society, although I have to say that I didn't grow up associating this toy with people of a different ethnic background. Make Way For Noddy has become a household name with his adventures being shown daily on Channel 5's Milkshake program for younger children. ***The Book*** This book has 5 stories in it. Each one has a moral in the tale and usually shows how Noddy learns the importance ... Read review

Fancy giving an Island to a 10 year old!! :)
Review of Five on a Treasure Island - Enid Blyton by eyebright1234

Advantages: Exciting story ,easy and compelling reading, first of a long series
Disadvantages: A bit dated in its language

The famous 5 are 4 cousins, George 11 (really a tomboy named Georgina) and her 3 cousins , Julian 12, Dick 11 and Anne 10. George has a dog she must keep in secret as he was a quite destructive puppy and is banned from her parents house , he is a brown mongrel dog and is called Timothy. This is the first time George meets her cousins and she does not like them to begin with. She is quite happy the way her life is and doesn't want them interfering ...
...unlikely but never mind it is a story and I never questioned it when aged 11)an Island with a ruined castle and even a wrecked ship which is under the sea. A treasure map is discovered by the children and confiscated by Georges strict father who then sells the story to the papers!! The children must try to discover the treasure (if it exists) before the Island is sold (yes even though it was given to George) to developers who are really treasure ... Read review

Take your imagination faraway!
Review of The Folk of the Faraway Tree - Enid Blyton by kingbill

Advantages: Works the imagination. Excellent read.
Disadvantages: It has an End!

This is the third book in the faraway tree series and is written in much the same way as The Enchanted Wood and The Magic Faraway Tree. All the same characters are in this book except Cousin Dick has been replaced by Curious Connie who is a spoiled little girl of the childrens mother. If you haven`t come accross The Enchanted Wood or The Magic Faraway Tree I advise you read these two first as they are a series of books. THE STORYLINE Three children ...
...got a new job in the country. They live in a little cottage just down a lane from The Enchanted Wood. In the first two books the children discovered The Enchanted Wood which was inhabitted by fairy folk and in the middle of the Wood was The Faraway Tree. The children had made friends with the inhabitants of the tree. There were pixies and fairies a man who wore saucepans, a lady who never stops washing and a curious gent with a big round head who ... Amelia Jayne series
Review of Amelia Jane Series - Enid Blyton by rojm

Advantages: a great read for young girls
Disadvantages: none

...old fashioned. We saw the Amelia Jayne books and bought her one I didn't think she would actually finish it, she did over a weekend. She has since read a second one and is on to her third. The books are about a naughty doll who plays tricks on the other toys and they get their own back. To a young child these books are very interesting and make great conversation if you like to chat about what they have read. If your little girl likes reading or ... Read review
