How do you survive sunmmer camp?
Review of How to Survive Summer Camp - Jacqueline Wilson by amyismad

Advantages: very amusing and comical
Disadvantages: quite boring tends to drag on

I don't want to bore you to death so I will keep this short and sweet. This book wasn’t as good as Jacqueline Wilson's other books , I should know as I am her biggest fan and have read all her books. I found it a little bit boring as it trailed on but it was also very amusing and comical. This book contains 164 pages and some hilarious illustrations, illustrated by Sue Heap. The main character of this book is Stella, a young girl who has been dumped ...
...go off on there Swanky honey moon. Stella isn’t very happy about this and assumes that she isn’t going to like it, and at first she definitely doesn't as she has to share a room with 2 snobby horrible girls and is made take terrifying swimming lessons with Uncle Pong the organiser of all events. Something happens that changes all this around. I will not give away the end but What I will say is that this book only costs about £3.99 so I would advise ... Read review

My take on Eldest
Review of Eldest - Christopher Paolini by salmonf1

Advantages: continues from Eragon
Disadvantages: maybe a little too long

Eldest continues the story following Eragon - a former farm boy who upon discovering a dragon egg is to become a rider, allied with saphira and others to aid the Varden (a rebellion group) against the evil king Galbatorix - I personally loved this story much like i enjoyed the previous book titled Eragon. In Eldest the plot thickens with the introduction of new and exciting characters and the exploration of existing characters. As well as being full ...
...i have discovered Eragon and Eldest to be criticized for apparent similarities to Star wars. Thinking about this i can say that there are similarities. but no one should be put off by this, i counter such criticism with the simple fact, starwars is spaceships, lasers and explosions, where as the inheritence sequence is dragons, swords and magic. more to the point starwars is awesome, so surely a few similarities are not unwelcome. The only criticism ... Read review

Best In Show
Review of Hairy Maclary's Showbusiness - Lynley Dodd by belfin

Advantages: Funny story with lovely pictures
Disadvantages: None

...the scruffy mutt that is Hairy Maclary. Her clever rhymes and funny illustrations mean that she is a very popular choice with children and adults alike. ***The Story*** The story starts with a picture of a town hall where a cat show is taking place. "In Riverside Hall on Cabbage Tree Row, the Cat Club were having their Annual Show. There were fat cats and thin cats, tabbies and greys, kick-up-a-din cats with boisterous ways." Outside Hairy ...
...prize for the SCRUFFIEST CAT? Hairy Maclary From Donaldson's Dairy." ***The Illustrations*** As with all the books in the series, the format is kept simple with a picture on one half of the double pages and the story written on the other. The illustrations are very detailed as well as being bright and colourful, with lots going on in the backgrounds. This is great for keeping children occupied as you read the story. The text is written in clear ... Read review

Do you believe in the cloud children?
Review of Cloudland - John Burningham by denella

Advantages: Imaginative story; beautiful illustrations
Disadvantages: None for me

...homesick and the Queen of Cloudland hears him shouting 'I WANT TO GO HOME.' Will she be able to send him back to Earth to be reunited with his grief-stricken parents? Visually this is a stunning book, although I think it has to be said that many of the illustrations will be better appreciated by adults than by children. Well, why not, if it is adults who are reading the book? There are some double-page spreads with little or no text at all, where ...
...is that the people of Cloudland occasionally utter magic words such as 'Hee ho goggle gralley fumble', or 'Teetum waggle bari se nee.' These are wonderful-sounding phrases that usual result in fits of giggles when reading the story aloud, but they might not be so easy for a young child to try to read on their own. Adult help could be needed there. I have discovered some wonderful picture books for young children over the course of the past few months, ... Read review
