Review of How the Grinch Stole Christmas - Dr. Seuss by frkurt

Advantages: A grinch who changes, a Who who hopes
Disadvantages: Nothing here that fails or slopes

...oh so priestly But how could I forget this story How could it not get some glory For the Grinch is each of us In our cars or on the bus We go our ways and think we're not We really think we're very hot But little things can mean a lot One small voice can hit the spot And just who are these Who's who sing? What new learning can they bring? Where would we be without the tale That Christmastime will never fail For humankind will always ...
...that briefest time Community most real, sublime Regardless of your race or creed Virtue or heroic deed Or even the most evil kind Rarely will be left behind For grace will work in ways most wondrous For an event that comes most thund-rous And, albeit, unexpected Though, confessing, was expected For this is a children's tale The ending cannot make us wail And as in true prophecy, has hope Surely we won't want to mope But joy surrounds ... Holes
Review of Holes - Louis Sachar by xXxgr8galxXx

Advantages: It's a brilliant book for all ages
Disadvantages: The cover could be better

I really liked this book! It kept you interested in it straight away and all the way through. The story line was very easy to follow and a very, very cleaver story line. My teacher read it to my class a few years ago and I enjoyed it so much I want out to the shops, bought it, and read it myself! I liked the book so much I went into town and bought the DVD starring Shia LaBeouf as Stanley Yelnats. I also really like that film, and also helped me ... Read review

Brilliant vocabulary builder in your pre-schooler
Review of Hop on Pop - Dr. Seuss by maisiemouse123

Advantages: Interactive story that you'll read again and again
Disadvantages: Get ready for lots of rhymming :)

Each time you read the book it is interactive in that you can change the story add movement (trying to walk/crawl like the characters, and so ... Read review

This Will Make You Itch!
Review of Horrid Henry's Nits - Francesca Simon by ciaomeister1

Advantages: Horrid Henry is a loveable child
Disadvantages: You may have to re-read again and again

Welcome to the world of Horrid Henry, who is horrid by name and horrid by nature. He is also my eldest child's favourite story character. Horrid Henry is quite an unpleasant little boy, who lives with his younger brother (Perfect Peter) and Mum and Dad. Horrid Henry's Nits is one of many books written by Francesca Simon. Each of the Horrid Henry books actually contains 4 stories, creatively illustrated by Tony Ross. Horrid Henry's Nits Pages 7 ...
...is until a mean and horrid plan form in Henry's slightly twisted mind. Henry decides to get rid of his nits by passing them on to his friends. As always Henry manages to scrape himself out of trouble and even receives a nit free certificate. Horrid Henry and the Fangmangler. Pages 28 - 51 Mum, rather misguidedly, promises Henry a trip to Toy Heaven. So Henry raids his skeleton bank in order to count his money and check that he has enough to buy ... Read review

***PINK FRILLY PANTS***
Review of Horrid Henry's Underpants - Francesca Simon by leofluffy69

Advantages: Great bedtime stories great for adults and kids
Disadvantages: none

...he goes there is chaos. Horrid Henry is a little sod the type of child in desperate need of a bit of discipline and his parents who could do with a visit from ‘supernanny’. I can imagine that not only would these books appeal to mischievous kids but also the parents suffering with tantrums, untidy rooms and lazy kids. ***THE CHARACTERS*** Horrid Henry lives at home with his mum, dad and his perfect brother perfect Peter, the two are certainly chalk ...
...4 seperate stories. 1. Horrid Henry Eats a Vegetable 2. Horrid Henry's Underpants 3. Horrid Henry's Sick day 4. Horrid Henry's Thank You Letter Each story is about 20 pages long so is ideal as a bedtime story. In the first story 'Horrid Henry Eats a Vegetable' Henry is given a plate of vegetables he pokes around and complains that his cauliflower looks like 'brains' and he refuses to eat it. Perfect Peter pipes up that vegetables are good for ... Read review
