...presents for a while! My Fireman Sam Magnet Book is a relatively new book in the Fireman Sam franchise made for toddlers and older children. This book is a lovely hardback, with its top half in bright red, just like the Fire Engine Jupiter, with a big picture of Fireman Sam and Jupiter on the bottom half of the book. ...and child-friendly as well! My only complaint about the book would be the size of the drawer. When you first get the book, all the pieces are sat in nicely, but obviously they all need to come out. The problem came when I tried to get them back in again and they wouldn't lay flat properly so I had to almost force the drawer shut. It's quite tough to get them all in properly, especially when Harry is trying to help, so you definitely need adult help ... Read review

Advantages: Simple, easy to follow story and lovely illustrations

Overview I bought this book in January 2007 for my 2 ½ year old son just before he went into hospital. Although it was a traumatic experience this book proved to be a real hit and has remained so for the last year or so. It's a simple book which would probably suit children from about 18 months. There is one sentence on each page with lots of repetition and lovely illustrations to capture the imagination. The boy in the story wants a cuddle and ...
...with each one there is a problem, which is usually humorous which went down well with my son. We still use one of the sentences as a family catch phase which elicits a laugh every time. Great for tense situations! He does end up getting his cuddle which gives a satisfying ending to the story. Disadvantages: It can be hard to follow at times.

I love the Series of Unfortunate Events and have done so since I got read the 7th one first for some reason. So this is the 13th (unlucky for some) and last in the series. It is written by Lemony Snicket who has followed the Baudelaires and recorded their stories. He tells the tale of the three siblings; Violet, Klaus and Sunny. Anyone who has read the previous 12 volumes will know that they have been put in some darstadly and sinister situations ...
...occured because of the devious Count Olaf who is after their immense fortune. It is a very worthy end to the series. It is full of action, horror, suspense and it is quite funny at times. It is a great read, but it is complicated even if you have read the other 12 but you will need to read them to know what is happening. ... Read review
