Grinding bliss
Review of Russell Hobbs 10934 by
Evan01
Advantages: Easy to use, sleek sexy design
Disadvantages: can be addictive!!!!
There is nothing quite as good as an exceptional cup of coffee, many a sunday morning I have put my feet up in the local coffee shop with the papers and settled down for a couple of hours enjoying the cafe's latest velvety delicacy. That was until two weeks ago when I was given this coffee grinder as a thank you present...... me grind my own coffee..... surely not.......
However the next Sunday morning I found myself unpacking this contraption and ... ...The actual grinder could not have been easier to use. Being male I naturally only briefly looked at the instruction manual before setting it all up. The instructions were straight forward and helpful. The grinder has an adjustable setting for the coureness of grind (which is extremely useful for differing types of coffee machine). You simply load up the beans, adjust the courseness and turn the dial to the correct level and press start. The beans ...

Caffeine addiction treatment
Review of Krups GVX231 by
phoenixbbs
Advantages: Small, looks great, works a treat
Disadvantages: Only the cost
...you :-}
I emailed Krups from their website, and received an email telling me to return the broken one to them for a replacement, which arrived a few days later. Sue, if you ever happen to read this, thanks :-)
The grinder looks quite smart, the main body is black, and it has a brushed chrome control panel and a silver grind control lever. It also has a control to allow it to automatically grind however many cups worth you want.
When you start ... ...but the noise lets you know its working anyway (lets face it, no grinder is quiet). This is a burr grinder, rather than a blade grinder, so it works like a pepper mill, rather than a liquidiser.
Burr grinders are reputedly the best type for coffee lovers, as the resulting coffee "meal" is consistent, whereas a blade grinder just roughly chops the beans.
This is quite an important difference if you want to use a "proper" espresso machine, as the ...

It's the "beans-knees"!
Review of Krups F20342 by
OliveOyl11
Advantages: It's simple to use, costs very little, is pretty compact and grinds coffee perfectly.
Disadvantages: None
...forward! We bought our Krups grinder for a few pounds and entered the world of coffee beans.
The grinder is very easy to use - simply load in the beans (about 4 desertspoons or just over the metal dish level, which is the grinder bowl), put the lid down and press the button until the beans are ground into the consistency you want. The top is made of clear plastic so you can see the results inside. Perfect.
It's small enough to sit on the counter ... ...are as follows: Height, from lid to base - 16.5cm (just over 6 inches) long. Depth - 8 cm.
Width - 9.5cm. It is an eliptical tube, shape-wise.
We tend to unplug ours and wrap the cord around it to store it in a drawer, when we don't want to leave it on the work-surface. As well as being compact, It is also quite stylish and will fit in with most kitchens - the body is black and the top is made of clear plastic.
We bought our coffee grinder from ...

professional burr mill at home
Review of Cuisinart DBM8U BURR MILL (18 Position Grind) by
mjc121
Advantages: top quality, 5 year guarantee, 18 grind settings
Disadvantages: loud
If you are buying fresh coffee then unless it's in those vac packs it is always best to buy it as beans rather than having the shop grind it for you. Coffee goes stale quite quickly after it has been ground and should be used within a few days to have it at it's best. If bought as beans it will keep for up to a month and you can grind it as it is needed. It also means you can grind it to suit different machines. I use both a cafetiere and an espresso ... ...bought this coffee grinder after my cheap blade mill finally gave up. It was expensive (£56) but I had £30 worth of tokens for a well known department store so bought it as I know the name is a good one.
The major advantage is that it is a burr mill. This is where the coffee is not in constant contact with blades so the grind is more even so no more of the mix of dust and bigger lumps. The grind is done by grinding 'plates' and after it is ground ...

Deep Purple Likes to Grind Coffee!
Review of Delonghi KG39 by
Necormancer
Advantages: Does the job consistantly, Easy to use!
Disadvantages: Breakable parts, Minimum of 4 cups at 1 time.
...and use it in my DeLonghi machine, but it looked like a very good grind indeed. I was impressed. I tried the coffee and yes, it tasted better than ground coffee. So, cheers to a nice cup of coffee!
However, i was expecting it could fit more into it. If you're doing a party with coffee (Trust me, i would!) 84g isn't much at one time. But still, for someone at home, a teenager who wants a quick grind to have a lovely cup of coffee to get rid of the ... ...along with other mouldings from DeLonghi products. We have a lot of DeLonghi in our house you see! The mouldings break for them very easilly. But you can replace them at the website, for a price though.
Also, cleaning the inside can be an issue. Sometimes i end up mixing beans, which doesxn't lead to a great result. It isn't waterproof, and it never ALL comes out. After the first time you use it, it's dirty for life. Anyway, to conclude, it's a ...
