Review of Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad Effects Unit / Sampler by jsweet11

Advantages: Sampling, Auto-BPM, Touch interface, Updates, USB Midi, Hold button
Disadvantages: Only one input at a time, pad gets marked easily

The kp3 is an amazing piece of kit, for producers, DJs, live bands and more. Its touch interface is extremely beneficial as it allows you to put more feeling into the production. But the downside to this is the pad is easily marked and needs regular cleaning with a dry cloth, but this is hardly a price to pay! The sampling is very easy as the sampling speed is altered according to the bpm which makes everything much easier. One downside is that ...
...one sample bank at a time. Another upside is the updates you can download from korg.com, they offer new features and bug fixing. One thing I would recommend is: DON'T BUY THIS FOR USE ON ITS OWN! its not very good at creating music on its own, it has built in presets but they arent as good as the kp2's. Review of Behringer MDX 4600 by Mr__Steve

Advantages: 4 channels of compression in 1 rack space, low noise, good metering.
Disadvantages: Lacks custom attack/release time controls

A good unit for the price, good features and only takes up one rack space. Recommended purchase for a gigging band! Mine was purchased from Dolphin Music, for £80.99, via eBay (brand new). ... Does what it says on the tin....with added hiss
Review of DBX 231 by Mr__Steve

Advantages: No nonsense graphic, solid dial & sliders
Disadvantages: Adds hiss, useless for quite sound reinforcement

I own one of these - they feel solid to use and are 'just' a graphic EQ instead of having lots of extra bells and whistles, which is why I chose it. However, the biggest let down with the 231 is that it puts a LOT of noise in to the signal path. Other users of the 231 have made the same comment. I have swapped out leads etc but the fact is this unit is very noisey/hissy. Would be fine for a loud band, but useless for speech or anything quiet. LED ... Read review
