Review of Pioneer DV-600AV by
Tanks
Advantages: Fantastic audio/AV Delivery
Disadvantages: Who cares
I have enjoyed the old Pioneer DV 626D for many years but up dated my TV to Samsung 1080 capability so invested in new 600av. Wow what a change! This is the best money I have ever spent on AV. I have an old Yamaha DSP2 Amp and B&W surround speakers. Now they dance to both audio and DvD. I played Harry Potter 3 on old system then on new. The difference is mind blowing! Then put on a classical cd and sit back and wonder what you have been missing. ... ...systems and would melt to hear what this system can deliver.
Hey buttons are small it needs a bit of time to warm, up and do not rely on display for info but put your favourite DVd or CD on and sit back and enjoy. You will not be dissapointed!!. ...

Nothing Special.
Review of Pioneer DV-400V-S by
Omar788
Advantages: Plays Divx
Disadvantages: Hardly any media for Divx.
If you are looking for a DVD player possibly as replacement or just want something just plain cheap to play your DVD's, then this is not for you.
This DVD player not just plays DVDs but also plays Divx discs. Which are supposed to be more storage per movie efficient for example, a typical DVD may store probably about 2-3 movies per disc while on the other hand an Divx disc can store possibly 4 to even 5 movies per disc!
Although there is a cost ... ...players that have incorporated playback of the Divx are about two times expensive than those that don't. To even downplay this functionality even more, most DVD discs don't come with Divx anyway.
So why spend more? Well there isn't much reason to, unless you want a "flash" looking player just knowing it has the extra ability to play Divx.
The player itself is made out of thin metal, although it does feel quite sturdy . ...

I saw and so I had to buy... re-edited
Review of Pioneer DV 490V K by
mimicmwb
Advantages: high HDMI, Compatibility, design
Disadvantages: Picture quality could be more resolute
...I got drawn towards the Pioneer DV-490V-K, as soon as the sales assistant saw I had a mild interest she homed in on me and from that point I knew I didn't have a chance. I ended up buying the DVD player for £159.99.
There are some technical terms I want to explain to you now because I may use them in the item's description.
UPCONVERSION; now this is when a smaller resolution signal, that comes from the in-put cable, is transferred into a television; ... ...produced from the HDMI, the Pioneer DV-490V-K manufacturers promised that its Upconversion technology would provide its purchasers with incredible picture resolution (especially on High definition Televisions). I am really unsatisfied with this aspect of the DV-490V-K.
I am pleased with the number of features available on the DVD player, and when comparing expenses the Pioneer DV-490V-K would appear to be the most extensive in its price range. VALUE ...

Multi region?
Review of Sony DVP-NS 36 by
k8_web
Advantages: divx compatible + multi region
Disadvantages: had to do a bit of research to enable full multi region ability
I've been looking for a divx player for a while now, and wanted one with multi region capability also. I eventually bought this dvd player from amazon.co.uk, as it was clearly labelled 'multi region'.
Reading the reviews on amazon, some said it was multi region straight out of the box. For me, when putting any other region dvd other than 2, it played in black and white. After a bit of research, and thinking I'd have to fork out more money to get ... ...is multi region, but my tv was not understanding the video format of the region 1 disc. A simple solution I discovered is simply to change the colour settings on the dvd menu (when there is no disc in it) to RGB.
Having achieved this, I am now a very happy customer! All region discs now play in full colour, as do divx formats, CD-RW etc.
On top of the function, the box is a sleek looking player. Very slim and very pretty. Furthermore I got it for ...

hd-dvd get one while you can !!!!
Review of Toshiba HD-E 1 by
colin_bradbury
Advantages: as good as blu-ray , extreamly cheap , bargins to be had everywhere
Disadvantages: no longer supported format
..., with the announcement that Toshiba is to withdraw from the hd race for the next format it leaves hd-dvd players in a very poor position in the market place , however do not let this put you off , there is already a great library off hd-dvd discs out there and as there is no region coding on the discs ,this means you can order via eBay direct from use for even more titles , of course the likelihood of new movies coming out on this format are very ... ...and the latest firmware via Toshiba brings it right unto date with picture and sound , if your savvy you can get one of these and a collection of discs for a fraction of the price of a blu-ray player and start enjoying high definition discs , the money you save get be put to one side to but a blu-ray / ps3 when they inevitably come down in price later this year ...
