COMPACKS 6972DVD (MULTI REGION) PLAYER EXCELLENT
Review of Compacks DVD 6972 by pc2308

Advantages: SMALL, TIDY AND EASY TO USE
Disadvantages: VERY FEW CONTROLS ON THE UNIT ITSELF

I bought the Compacks 6972DVD player and found it to be an excellent product. ADVANTAGES This small (9" x 9.5" x 1 3/4") sleek looking Silver unit, can be tucked away in to the smallest of crevises. It is easy to use and comes packed with features that you would normally have to pay a great deal for. It will play any region (0 - 9) and for the price that I paid I could not have asked for anything better. (£19.99 inc postage). It comes with a lightweight ...
...OSD, Open, Power, Prog, Audio, Subtitle, 4 speed modes (X2 - X16) Pause, Play and Title, not to mention the standard command buttons, and much more. Very easy to get started, just plug in using a standard Scart lead and bobs your uncle.... DISADVANTAGES The remote is your control, if you lose it, it would be very difficult to use the DVD player. The only controls on the front of the unit are the On/Off button, eject, Stop, Play/pause. The picture ... Read review

yes, you have read correctly. It is COMPACKS!
Review of Compacks DVD800 by unnameable

Advantages: slimline, cheap, easy to use
Disadvantages: instruction manual!

...player was the nicely title Compacks DVD 800 available at Safeway for a fantastic price of £35.99. Shockingly cheap yes, but definitely not nasty, as I hope you will find out later! And before you ask, yes I did request for this to be added! And no, the name is not a wind up! Looks: A nice slimline case that actually fits nicely beside (yes BESIDE!) the video recorder sat ontop of our 18 year old CO-OP TV set. The front panel doesn't exactly scream ...
...hifi seperate. from the brushed steel finish, down to the slightly iffy lettering. One thing I can't fault it on is the layout of the buttons and pure simplicity. everything is well labelled (by iffy lettering) and nicely spaced. The unit is 28cm wide, 26cm deep, and stands a grand 5cm high. Pretty small compared to a lot of other players on the market. Installation: Upon opening the box I was horrified to find that the batteries for the remote ... Read review

Not such a bargain
Review of Alba DVD62XI by sm276

Advantages: Cheap, small
Disadvantages: Over time stops playing recorded discs

I purchased a Alba DVD62XI from Argos about a year ago as I wanted a cheap DVD player than played recorded DVDs. This is the cheapest I could find (based on other reviews that it played copied discs). The DVD player worked fine for about 3 or 4 months before I started having issues. After that time the DVD player began skipping and lost the ability to read recorded discs. Nothing had happened in that time (The player had not been dropped or even ...
...to why it happened. I know someone else who has the exact same player and they have had the same issues, although it took a little bit longer to happen. In conclusion - If you are looking for a cheap DVD player that plays recorded discs, spend a little bit more. I eventually ended up paying £25ish for a Panasonic DVD player (not sure of model) and I am much happier. ... Read review

Brilliant yet Affordable!
Review of Samsung DVD-1080 P 7 by biztrends

Advantages: With most wanted features!
Disadvantages: The issue wt da vwng mode memory!

At this price range it offers a much bigger satisfactory level for the consumer...!to some it may look too polished/shiny(jet black) but a sleek design with a blue light "power on" indicator..maybe too bright yet nice!...very simple setup menus, dolby digital decoding+DTS,HDMI upconvertion works superbly(1080P)and the supplied HDMI cable does the job well..DivX playback is supported..on screen menus are designed well and the remote also comes in handy..but ... The Well Known Brand of Aitro!
Review of Aitro DVDAW08 by JamieJCO

Advantages: Cheap, very small and compact.
Disadvantages: The "on" light comes on when it's off | Can't record | Slightly too quiet |

The Aitro DVD player is a very simple compact product, which is perfect for people either on a budget or in need of a small DVD player which will save space. It cannot record, but for around £15-20 it is still a bargain. It is very easy to install, as only 3 wires have to be plugged into the DVD player itself and 3 into the TV. It is very straight forward and the instructions walkthrough everything clearly enough. Whilst it is cheap it is definately ...
...as an expensive DVD Player, as I haven't experienced any techincal difficulties to date. As with most up to date DVD players it can play CD's and MP3s. It can be a bit quiet when playing DVD's but the only thing necessary to solve that is to turn up the TV. The remote control looks fairly cheap and tacky, but it does the job and has all the necessary functions to watch a DVD without any hassle. Overall the DVD player itself works fine, and I can ...
