Cheap And Cheerfull! A Great DVD Player!
Review of Philips DVP 3120 by Craigshadow12

Advantages: Low cost,Will play all the main formats,Fairly good quality.
Disadvantages: Altough its good its not good enough to be homes main DVD player.

...I had never owned a Philips DVD player before this purchase but was assured by many people that their DVD players were always in top form. This product is possibly the cheapest DVD players I have ever bought but must say that I found that for its price and what I use it for it was a great buy. Another reason I decided to buy this DVD player over the many other options that were available to me was because this DVD player is small and slim and is ...

Enter these numbers - 138931. 6. You will now see the current region code for your DVD player. 7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys and select the region you require or simply press "0" for all regions. 8. Press the "Play" button to play your DVD. I found this feature very useful ... Read review

For the price, it has to be considered a must!
Review of Philips DVP 5960 by mynameisrui

Advantages: looks good, plays everything, cheap
Disadvantages: Remote Could Be Better

I have had this DVD player for about a year now and, overall, I have to say that I am very pleased with it. Firstly with regards to its looks, it looks good! It is a silver unit with a black front and a red standby button on the bottom left of the player. The buttons on the front are very basic: it only has 5 button, a USB port and the tray. On the back, you get the usual connections that are expected including, obviously, an HDMI port. The actual ...
...enough to fit through a letter box) With regards to the actual player, the main reason I bought it was for its playback capabilities. It plays everything! As far as I've found, there is nothing that it has had trouble with and there are no issues with colours or syncing problems. I mainly play divx's and these work a treat. The DVD player also upscales with is supposed to be quite a good feature. Personally, I cannot tell the difference between ... Read review

Review of Philips DVP 5980 by AJRAD

Advantages: good image, high definition (1080p), good sound, easy use
Disadvantages: no Real Dolby

I was attracted to purchase this DVD player a while ago for its DivX capabilities (something not too many players have). It is a fairly impressive HDMI player, supporting 1080p High Definition resolution pictures. The HD output is flawless and makes for a great movie watching time. After I bought this, I spent a few days just sitting on the sofa watching DVDs with my friends with this player (they were also impressed with the HD). This is still ...
...of the film-watching spree now I will occasionally have a film night with my mates enjoying the high quality and resolution of the DVP 5980. The sound output is also fairly impressive and although it does depend on the audio capabilities of the TV you're using, having a DVD player that also has high calibre audio helps too. It doesn't have Real Dolby though, which is a shame and is also why this product does not get five stars from me. But then ... Read review

Philips DVP 3100V
Review of Philips DVP 3100V by Walls1993

Advantages: Plays large range
Disadvantages: not multi regional

We bought the Philips DVP3100v DVD/VCR combi as it plays a large range of media types and has a 6 head VCR player with PAL I and PAL B/G which is suitable for UK and Australia. The DVD player does recognize my home movies in divX format (converted from wmv format - Windows Movie Maker files) and standard jpeg photos on CD-R discs - which is great. Unfortunately, we have not managed to make this machine multi-regional despite attempts at the more ...
...poor quality of VCR playback with some videos virtually unwatchable with flickering black screens enough to frustrate even our four year old. The manual tracking function doesn\'t help and now the Automatic Tracking doesn\'t seem to work (despite pressing \"0\" as the manual suggests). We have no problems with our 10 year old 2 head Panasonic VCR so it\'s not a problem with the tape. The menu system seems very primitive for the VCR so it would seem ... Read review

Top notch DVD player
Review of Philips DVD 728 by thespurs

Advantages: Looks fantastic
Disadvantages: None

...we (my family) have a Philips television and am very loyal to the brand. We purchased this DVD player a fews days after the television, because we very pleased with what Philips have to offer. We bagged this superb DVD player for around £80. There wasn't any real competition that would sway our decision of purchasing this particular product. We had a look at a few cheaper, budget, DVD players but they looked too cheap and nasty. The fact that the ...
...a very reliable product and Philips are a very reliable electronics company. It won't break the bank, so I am sure many people will be able to afford the £80 price tag as I have already mentioned. If you do go out and buy this, please let me know what you think of it. I would give this a 9/10 for an all round performance. Thanks for reading! ... Read review
