Cheap And Cheerfull! A Great DVD Player!
Review of Philips DVP 3120 by
Craigshadow12
Advantages: Low cost,Will play all the main formats,Fairly good quality.
Disadvantages: Altough its good its not good enough to be homes main DVD player.
...I had never owned a Philips DVD player before this purchase but was assured by many people that their DVD players were always in top form. This product is possibly the cheapest DVD players I have ever bought but must say that I found that for its price and what I use it for it was a great buy.
Another reason I decided to buy this DVD player over the many other options that were available to me was because this DVD player is small and slim and is ... ...1. Turn on the Philips DVP3120.
2. Open the disk tray.
3. Press the "Setup" button on your remote.
4. Go to the "Preferences" page by pressing the right arrow key twice. 5. Enter these numbers - 138931.
6. You will now see the current region code for your DVD player.
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys and select the region you require or simply press "0" for all regions.
8. Press the "Play" button to play your DVD. I found this feature very useful ...

Good looking Portable DVD player
Review of Philips PET1030 by
rosem1
Advantages: Great looking, nicely designed. Swivel is great.
Disadvantages: Can't play some DVD's. Older DVD's seemed to have more problems.
...name format.
However, this Philips PET1030 is not perfect. For some unknown reason, it refuses to remember the last played position and properly resumes playing for some commercial DVD discs. Also it will refuse to play some DVD's no idea why, think it makes up its own mind.
Summary: I love the player and the car mount kit. This is probably the best player in the market. However, I have problems playing some DVD's.

Review of Philips DVP 5980 by
AJRAD
Advantages: good image, high definition (1080p), good sound, easy use
Disadvantages: no Real Dolby
I was attracted to purchase this DVD player a while ago for its DivX capabilities (something not too many players have).
It is a fairly impressive HDMI player, supporting 1080p High Definition resolution pictures. The HD output is flawless and makes for a great movie watching time. After I bought this, I spent a few days just sitting on the sofa watching DVDs with my friends with this player (they were also impressed with the HD).
This is still ... ...of the film-watching spree now I will occasionally have a film night with my mates enjoying the high quality and resolution of the DVP 5980.
The sound output is also fairly impressive and although it does depend on the audio capabilities of the TV you're using, having a DVD player that also has high calibre audio helps too.
It doesn't have Real Dolby though, which is a shame and is also why this product does not get five stars from me.
But then ...

OUR PET KEEPS THE KIDS QUIET
Review of Philips PET830 by
CaptainColonic
Advantages: Excellent playback and sound quality, really portable, long battery life, supports lots of formats
Disadvantages: The price and the really small remote control
...screens. This resulted in two Philips PET830 portable DVD players being bought from an online store for £169.99 each. Justifying such expenditure was easy for reasons I will explain in detail. The players are very light (just shy of 1kg) and can be carried around by children with confidence. They won't cause them to start moaning about their arms aching after a few minutes and thanks to a great design feature the screen hooks onto the back of car ... ...a bump, even at some speed they do not become detached. The PET is 25.5cm in width, 17cm high and 3.1cm deep. If you can picture it, the entire unit is around two thirds of the width of the rear of a car front seat.
The visible screen is a 8.5 inch (measured diagonally) TFT active matrix that projects images in perfect colour without any sort of glitches or problems at a resolution of 16:9. Cartoons, fast paced movies and music all come out on the ...

For the price, it has to be considered a must!
Review of Philips DVP 5960 by
mynameisrui
Advantages: looks good, plays everything, cheap
Disadvantages: Remote Could Be Better
I have had this DVD player for about a year now and, overall, I have to say that I am very pleased with it.
Firstly with regards to its looks, it looks good! It is a silver unit with a black front and a red standby button on the bottom left of the player. The buttons on the front are very basic: it only has 5 button, a USB port and the tray. On the back, you get the usual connections that are expected including, obviously, an HDMI port. The actual ... ...enough to fit through a letter box)
With regards to the actual player, the main reason I bought it was for its playback capabilities. It plays everything! As far as I've found, there is nothing that it has had trouble with and there are no issues with colours or syncing problems. I mainly play divx's and these work a treat.
The DVD player also upscales with is supposed to be quite a good feature. Personally, I cannot tell the difference between ...
