Toshiba DVR3 Recorder and VCR Combination
Review of Toshiba DVR3 by
jeanoj
Advantages: Very neat compact unit
Disadvantages: not easy to set up
...haven't tried transferring my camcorder fims on to VCR or DVD but it looks very simple so I don't foresee any problems.
The Toshiba DVR3 can record on most types of DVD including -R, -RW and RAM and can read even more.
I would recommend this combination machine. ...

My Favourite Mistake
Review of Toshiba HD EP30 by
utero
Advantages: Good Upscaling DVD player, HD Titles are now rock bottom price
Disadvantages: Slow to load, clumsy remote
...myself this Christmas to a Toshiba EP-30 player. I had the HD capable tv and decided to see if it was a major difference.
I purchased mine from Amazon for about £190 but with vouchers my outlay was less. Part of the attraction was the fact that you were given two dvd's in the box, namely 300 and The Bourne Supremacy. You could then mail in your receipt and receive a further five titles free. This made the deal fairly sweet and there certainly wasn't ... ...was good to see that Toshiba give you the leads to experience HD straight out of the box rather than giving the retailer an upsell opportunity.
The first thing I noticed is that access to the film is not as quick as normal DVD. There is a loading time that can seem like an age although it's probably only about 45 seconds. Then it hit me, you think dvd quality is great well HD raises the bar. Watching 300, a film created in the digital realm was ...

hd-dvd get one while you can !!!!
Review of Toshiba HD-E 1 by
colin_bradbury
Advantages: as good as blu-ray , extreamly cheap , bargins to be had everywhere
Disadvantages: no longer supported format
..., with the announcement that Toshiba is to withdraw from the hd race for the next format it leaves hd-dvd players in a very poor position in the market place , however do not let this put you off , there is already a great library off hd-dvd discs out there and as there is no region coding on the discs ,this means you can order via eBay direct from use for even more titles , of course the likelihood of new movies coming out on this format are very ... ...and the latest firmware via Toshiba brings it right unto date with picture and sound , if your savvy you can get one of these and a collection of discs for a fraction of the price of a blu-ray player and start enjoying high definition discs , the money you save get be put to one side to but a blu-ray / ps3 when they inevitably come down in price later this year ...

Excellent quality and fairly cheap too!
Review of Toshiba HD-E1 by
prl100
Advantages: Amazing picture. Interactive features are very innovative.
Disadvantages: A little slow to load up. The player is also quite large.
I received my HD DVD player one week ago. For this reason you may want to check out the durability of the item from other sources but so far so good for me. It appears to be very well made and so I would guess that it is going to last.
First things first - the set up. I was expecting this to be a bit more complicated than setting up a DVD player because of the range of different settings. It was actually a very easy process. The HDMI cable is a ... ...fond of) and plugs in similar to how a USB cable plugs in. Apart from that plugged the power cable in and that was all the connecting I had to do.
The setup process took around 60 seconds and the player did it all for me. I have been warned not to set it to '720' resolution as it gives a substandard image, so I just left it on '1080'.
Next I turned on the player. It is a bit slow at loading up but this is not much of an issue - it's just not instant ...

Multi region?!
Review of Sony DVP-NS 36 by
k8_web
Advantages: divx compatible
Disadvantages: had to do a bit of research to enable multi region ability
I've been looking for a divx player for a while now, and wanted one with multi region capability also. I eventually bought this dvd player from amazon.co.uk, as it was clearly labelled 'multi region'.
Reading the reviews on amazon, some said it was multi region straight out of the box. For me, when putting any other region dvd other than 2, it played in black and white. After a bit of research, and thinking I'd have to fork out more money to get ... ...is multi region, but my tv was not understanding the video format of the region 1 disc. A simple solution I discovered is simply to change the colour settings on the dvd menu (when there is no disc in it) to RGB.
Having achieved this, I am now a very happy customer! All region discs now play in full colour, as do divx formats, CD-RW etc.
On top of the function, the box is a sleek looking player. Very slim and very pretty. I got it for a fantastic ...
