There are a few firmware faults with this model, for example it sometimes won't play a DVD on initial startup and you have to restart the player as it just blue screens. The upscaling quality is good, however I have only my xbox on vga connection to compare it to. Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I bought this bargain-basement HDMI DVD player from Currys Digital on Oxford Street, to play through my newly purchase 40" Sony Bravia LCD TV.
