A good fryer guaranteed to make you fat!
Review of Morphy Richards 45470 by
hollypopple
Advantages: Good quality, high capacity, variable temperature
Disadvantages: Oil evaporates onto the units above it
I bought this deep fat fryer just over a year ago from Amazon.co.uk for about £50. It is a very good quality fryer with variable temperature control up to 190 degrees, and is an attractive brushed steel design. There is also an on-off button and a red indicator light which turns off when the required temperature has been reached. The basket can hold about 1.2kg of food, which is slightly more than most domestic fryers. It is very effective and cooks ... ...packs away neatly as the handle folds cleverly inside without touching the oil, so that the removable lid can cover it. You have to wait for several hours after using it before it is cool enough to put the lid back on. The main bowl lifts out for easy cleaning and the basket is dishwasher safe. The remaining parts have to be washed in the sink. The only problem I have experienced with this fryer is that you cannot use the lid while it is in use, ...

No Not a Deep Fat Fryer
Review of Kenwood DF380 by
hazle
Advantages: Quick and easy
Disadvantages: A bit greasy
This was a joint present for my self and hubby but I think he will use it more than I will. It has been used about 6 times, and out of those 6 I think I have used it once. I think once the novelty wears off, he won't use it as much. I know that deep fat fryers are one of the most unhealthy ways to cook things, but they are handy to have. For a start chips taste much better when cooked in a deep fat fryer, (and I don't mean from the chip shop, much ... ...home. Chips will probably be the only thing that gets cooked in it. Ok so enough about me, I will get on with the product review.
Now this was a present from my mum and dad, and I think mum got the idea after I saw hers and said that must be so easy to clean. And it is so easy to clean, as it comes almost completely to bits. So what do you get? The instruction manual is very small and not a huge amount of information with it, but there really is ...

Delonghi Deep Fat Fryer
Review of Delonghi F 24502 CZ by
jad1965
Advantages: Oil drainer, easy to keep clean
Disadvantages: Check oil tap is closed!!
I have gone through a few deep fat fryers (mainly because instead of cleaning it I just get a new one!!!)
Anyway at the moment I have this one and so far I am impressed with it, even without a timer. Seems easier to keep clean somehow than the white ones. BUT don't do what I did ........... I unpacked it, rinsed it out, put it together, filled with oil and left on kitchen top for later............................ when I walked into kitchen I saw ... ...tap was off, yes all the oil had come out, all over unit and floor. SO remember to check the tap is off. But at least I know it works, and when the oil needs changing I should now manage it without having to buy a new one!!! Also makes lovely chips! ...

==Kenwood DF520==
Review of Kenwood DF520 by
travellinggardener
Advantages: Good to cook with. Easy to clean.
Disadvantages: Rather large to store.
Kenwood DF520
I have found this fryer to be an efficient addition to my kitchen. It is rather bulky so advisable to have a cupboard to store it in, for, if you are like me, it will only be used on a few occassions. It cooks well with a good range of temperatures and has a reasonable sized basket for the food to be cooked. It is rather spoilt by the viewing window becoming hard to see through once cooking has commenced as it appears to steam ...

A healthy chip buttie?
Review of Tefal FZ 7000 Actifry by
sandra102
Advantages: lovely healthy crispy chips
Disadvantages: expensive
The Hype
Imagine being able to fry a batch of real home-made chips with just a tablespoon of olive oil. Sounds too good to be true?
Place up to a kilo of freshly cut chips into the cooking pan, then measure your preferred oil with the scoop provided, pour it over, and set the timer. Patented technology circulates hot air around your fries, whilst the mixing paddle evenly disperses the oil. The result is chips that are crispy on the outside, soft ... ...more good news to come: The Actifry can also be used for cooking frozen chips, scampi, chicken drumsticks, stir-fried vegetables and lots more besides - recipe book included
An odourless filter keeps your kitchen fresh, and you can check on progress through the viewing window
Everything except the base can go into the dishwasher, and of course there's no oil to filter after frying.
The truth
I have seen this demonstrated on shopping channels ...
