Before getting new windows fitted we suffered from massive amounts of condensation in our home, so much so that damp had actually appeared in the corners of the room where water had run down the wall. Frankly after paying so much for a home I didn't fancy decorating for it all to be ruined while we waited to save up for the windows. My dad suggested a dehumidifer and we bought this one for £85 as it is small enough to sit in the corner of any room ...
...and inobtrusive it weighs a ton even when the drum is empty. There is some seriously heavy motor packed within the engine room of this beast so trying to move it when the 10 litre drum is full is near on impossible. What can I say about the DEM 10 but it is the best thing I have bought for my home in a very long time. I bought this primarily for the Bathroom as I don't have an extractor fan and I though this would be a good idea to remove the excess water. Yes I know you arent meant to use in a bathroom, but the plug is out in the hall so it's fairley safe! Good features such as an automatic switch off if you forget to switch it off, so at lease you know it won't overflow. Also it has a clear front cover so you can see then it is almost full so you can empty ...
...link it via a hose to allow the water to fully drain out so there is no need to empty as it does this via the hose - just remember to leave the hose in a sink - I think it is far easier to just empty it. It does make a noise but no more than I would expect from this type of product. Easy to move around the house for different rooms.
