To My Coy Mistress....Sorry Computer!!
Review of Dell Desktop Dimension 5150c by
bigush
Advantages: Powerful and relatively cheap
Disadvantages: It's a computer
...We are talking about the Dell Dimension 5150c Desktop Computer. And there's the rub! Anyone who has bought a Dell computer will know that they are essentially custom ordered and bought. There is not a standard Dimension 5150c. You phone the nice man/woman in Mumbai and the battle commences. They try and sell you the top spec version and you try and resist. That said, the Dimension 5150c is really only the basic tower design and all specs, monitors, ... ...to your initial negotiation with Dell apart from a few standards:
Mine came with Windows XP home edition. I have enquired, and all future orders will come with Vista, of course. It comes with the usual Dell 15 month MacAfee virus zapping software.
It comes with CD/DVD burning software.
I bought a TFT 19" flat screen monitor but there is a 24" version available. That's a big face.
The manual leaves something to be desired. However the online manual ...

THIS PACKARD`S A BELLE
Review of Packard Bell iMedia 3051 by
stuleg
Advantages: Cheap Cheap Cheap
Disadvantages: Hard-disk on the smallish side
...pounds. This is where the Packard Bell 3051 iMedia comes in; a friend of mine was looking for a new PC and despite my protestations had decided that PC World was the shop to get his custom. A look around the various models on display unearthed what seemed to be a veritable bargain - the above mentioned system for just £310. Some questioning of a shop assistant revealed that this price did not include a monitor but since the friend in question had ... ...CD as well as a Packard Bell recovery DVD Rom should things go wrong and the factory default setup needs to be returned to.
◄A look at the components in more detail►
◄The Processor►
The 3051 is powered by an Intel Celeron 2.6 GHz Processor with 128 kb cache memory which is a budget processor from Intel aimed to counteract the success of AMD`s Duron chip. The Intel Celeron is also very much the poor relation to Intels Pentium ...

Good info for the second hand pc buyer
Review of Emachines 770 by
gaycunttom666
Advantages: Good Solid Components
Disadvantages: Lack Of Ram, Poor Quality Input Devices
I have owned the eMachines 770 for nearly 2years 4months, it was originally purchased as a cheap student machine.
It has served me well in the years i have owned it, i have replaced the minimal amount of things on this machine, mainly the keyboard, mouse and speakers that came with it as they were 'budget' alternatives that i found very 'flimsy'.
The basics of the system are adequate for most of the basic pc use market, it is not meant to be a ... ...basic pc/internet user for browsing ect.
As this system is now nearly 3 years old, the chances are that any potential buyer will be buying second hand, for college work or a low budget family system.
If this is the case then i recommend that you shop around to find one with a RAM upgrade (higher than 256mb) possibly a new keyboard and mouse set, and if you would like it as a system to handle music and media, i suggest a speaker upgrade. ...

Sarah Louise finally loses her AMD v-plates!
Review of Compaq Presario S5100 Athlon by
Sarah_Louise
Advantages: Fast and easy to use
Disadvantages: As with all computers - it's already outdated!
...Pentiums and opted for a Compaq Presario AMD Athlon (model number S5100) instead as I’d heard from numerous people that these were faster in general. It came with Windows XP installed on it (officially, and not from a copied source so my dad was happy!) It has funny numbers after its name, reading AMD Athlon XP 2400+. It comes with 256MB of RAM and 40GB hard drive. And, as if that’s not enough, it also comes with Integrated NVIDIA GeForce XM graphics ... ...last line, please feel free to explain in the Comments box because I know nothing about computer graphics!)
So, barring the graphics that I’m afraid I know very little about, what does all that gobbledygook mean?
In layman’s terms it means….
This PC is suitable for everyone really, from beginner to advanced user. It could cope with most things that any heavy user could throw at it so anyone but the most determined ...
