My new IMAC
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz - 17" TFT by jermiez

Advantages: Compact, Stylish, Value for money
Disadvantages: A little slow when opening up a number of programs at one go

Since my Toshiba M30 harddisk broke down, I decided to go for an iMac as i had been craving for one for ages!!! As a first timer using Macs, I found the controls and mouse foreign BUT it was really easy to pick it up and I found that it was so easy to open a few programs, switch to multiple views and select which one you wanted to see. An easy example would be switching between 3 webpages where you can view all 3 pages and select the one that had ...
...a fair number of programs such as word, safaris and adium, it took awhile for loading. Also, the graphic is not exactly fantastic for those art users or gamings although it is enough to view movies and meddle around. If speed is of great importance though, you can always just upgrade your ram as you buy the computer because there is only 1 ram slot. For the value, I would say this is an all round Mac with the latest technology to suit most people ... Read review

A wonderful workhorse of a desktop.
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2 GHz - 17" TFT by smiley1970

Advantages: Simple to work. No tower.
Disadvantages: Free support only for 3 months.

...switching from Windows DO IT! Apple have a great bit of software called BootCamp (will be part of the next OSX Leopard) that allows dual booting of OSX and Windows. You can even get a virtual desktop to open Windows whithout having to boot out of OSX. I've dabbled in trying to triple boot with Linux too but yet unsuccessful. There's basic software to cover every task in OSX or the most complex if that's more your style. Almost all of your data will ...
...else is out there try Apple and Versiontracker. Theres a webcam stuck in the top of the screen even. I've not any use for that yet as most of my friends/family use old hardware but Photo Booth supplied will give you hours of laughs with your visitors. The speakers could go louder but try and work out where they are!? A subwoofer would solve my issue here. 4 months on and I'm still excited about using it. I say buy two!! ... Read review

This is the future...
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 1.8 GHz - 17" TFT by hijameswilhelm

Advantages: Great design, Brilliant performance, Intergrated hard-drive, Modern looks
Disadvantages: Better for buisness than gaming, Sound could be better perhaps.

...I though I'd give his Apple G5 a go just too see what it was like. What a machine! I must admit though I was fairly sceptical about Mac's before I used the machine because of all the bad press they get, but my opinion has changed completely and I thought that I'd share my new perspective with ciao! First thing that's worth I first noticed was no hard drive! Well there is but no tower. All the components for the machine are mounted cleverly in the ...
...looks incredible. It's all white, curved lines, almsot everything about it is innovative and well though through although I must admit it took me a while to get to grips with the mouse. Only one button! But it's just a matter of time before you get the hang of it. Continuing on the theme of design I almost find it hard to put into words how modern, innovative and stunning this machine really looks. Everywhere you look there's something that makes ... Excellent Product, Sleek & Sophisticated!!
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 1.8 GHz - 17" TFT by anthuk81

Advantages: Sleek, Easy To Use, Feature Rich
Disadvantages: Can Be Expensive Brand New

...and it is the first apple computer I have ever bought. I purchased it after a recommendation from a good friend of mine, and although I did think the price was some what expensive compared to PCs out there of a similar spec I was very impressed with its overall performance and speed! The machine itself is very slim, and as everything is behind the monitor there is no additional base station therefore not causing any clutter you simply have one mains ...
...After a few calls to apple to express my dissatisfaction they agreed for me to take it to one of their recommended apple suppliers to have it replaced free of charge! I took it up and they sorted it within 2 days and i got my mac back with a brand new LCD. One of the things you may find hard to get used to is the operating system, and how you navigate around it as it does not have a 'start' menu which can put people off who are used to windows machines. ... iMac G5 512 Ram 160 GB
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 1.8 GHz - 20" TFT by thedorrells

Advantages: Cool, great movie authoring
Disadvantages: Why didnt I buy one earlier.

...discovered the ease of the apple interface when I purchased my first iPod. How easy to use iTunes, hence did some research into Apple and video editing then took the plunge. Have had the imac G5 now for 8 months and absolutely love it. It takes a little while to get used to how to do things, but what I found is that tasks are far simpler than using the windows platform. The OSX system is excellent and comes complete with all the tools I need. I have ...
...screen! All regular experiences on my windows machines. Safari: Excellent web browser. Itunes: The simplest and most effective music management software I have used to date. Want to burn a compilation CD, no problem. All very easy to follow and to manage. Iphoto: Again a very simple system for managing your digital photos, and so easy to email large size files of my many photos, so the inlaws don't complain about long down load times of the mails ...
