My new IMAC
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz - 17" TFT by
jermiez
Advantages: Compact, Stylish, Value for money
Disadvantages: A little slow when opening up a number of programs at one go
Since my Toshiba M30 harddisk broke down, I decided to go for an iMac as i had been craving for one for ages!!!
As a first timer using Macs, I found the controls and mouse foreign BUT it was really easy to pick it up and I found that it was so easy to open a few programs, switch to multiple views and select which one you wanted to see. An easy example would be switching between 3 webpages where you can view all 3 pages and select the one that had ... ...a fair number of programs such as word, safaris and adium, it took awhile for loading.
Also, the graphic is not exactly fantastic for those art users or gamings although it is enough to view movies and meddle around. If speed is of great importance though, you can always just upgrade your ram as you buy the computer because there is only 1 ram slot.
For the value, I would say this is an all round Mac with the latest technology to suit most people ...

A wonderful workhorse of a desktop.
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2 GHz - 17" TFT by
smiley1970
Advantages: Simple to work. No tower.
Disadvantages: Free support only for 3 months.
...switching from Windows DO IT! Apple have a great bit of software called BootCamp (will be part of the next OSX Leopard) that allows dual booting of OSX and Windows. You can even get a virtual desktop to open Windows whithout having to boot out of OSX. I've dabbled in trying to triple boot with Linux too but yet unsuccessful. There's basic software to cover every task in OSX or the most complex if that's more your style. Almost all of your data will ... ...else is out there try Apple and Versiontracker. Theres a webcam stuck in the top of the screen even. I've not any use for that yet as most of my friends/family use old hardware but Photo Booth supplied will give you hours of laughs with your visitors. The speakers could go louder but try and work out where they are!? A subwoofer would solve my issue here. 4 months on and I'm still excited about using it. I say buy two!! ...

Turn your dreary life into an iLife!
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2 GHz - 20" TFT by
cstanley_2
Advantages: Gorgeous design, fast processor, fluid animations, great for media
Disadvantages: Too glossy? Aren't really any disadvantages!
...should have been!)
I also got student discount and a free printer (via rebate) so it turned out about £680 for the whole package! =)
All from the Apple store themselves too!
Blooming marvellous - now upgraded to 3GB RAM, it works like a charm!
Definitely recommended! ...

A beautiful thing
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz - 20" TFT by
BigLes1970
Advantages: Lots and lots - too many to mention.
Disadvantages: A new one came out
I love my iMac. I have been a PC person all of my life, but now i am converted. The only downside is that within three months of getting it a new (very, very, very beautfil) model was launched - oh well that's the risk when you buy any technology now a days.
I love the big bright screen, the amazing graphics and the superb operating system that just rocks.
My wife uses the iMac for her photography work and the processor eats up anything she demands ... ...made a big difference when you have lots of applications running. I work on PCs at work and the Microsoft stuff is completely compatible with the PC stuff which means there are no issues in operating two systems. Also, if you get Leopard you can run Boot vamp and the iMac can be a mac and a pc. ...

iMac Core 2 Due 20" TFT
Review of Apple iMac Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz - 20" TFT by
autonick
Advantages: Screen, Webcam, amazing processer speed
Disadvantages: With mine the Wifi can sometimes be an issue
...I bought it from the Apple store in London, where I must say the customer service is amazing and the staff had an answer to all my questions!
Before this Imac I had an Ibook G4 which was the best thing since sliced bread, thats what made me want one of these.
The IMac is all an all in one computer, all the bits are in the screen with only the keyboard and mouse separate. This makes it great for people with not so much space.
This computer is very ... ...round, the whole unit is a sort of brushed aluminum colour and my favorite bit is the small brushed aluminum keyboard, which has nice sized buttons and a nice feel to it (ie not big and chunky keys)
The IMac loads up in no time, unlike a Windows machine and within less than say 30 seconds you are ready to go.
The screen is Massive, bright and very clear, and the graphics can easily handle online TV and gaming, I use mine to play World of Warcraft ...
