Dimension 1100
Review of Dell Desktop Dimension 1100 by LRDMan

Advantages: Cheap, simple to use
Disadvantages: Lack of power, poor expansion

...recently. This is where the Dell shows it's downside. As simple as it is, it provides very little workability for advanced users. After looking into the problem and attempting many fixes, I had no luck solving the problem - I could still watch no videos. The only solution would be to reinstall the operating system - something that is tricky on this computer, as no install disk is provided! I eventually resorted to acquiring my own install disk, ...
...the lack of expansion options. There are no true graphics slots (AGP or PCI-E), so the best dedicated graphics card I could fit was the nVidia 6200 PCI. This is a very basic card and does not allow games with advanced graphics to be played, which was a problem for me. There are no extra slots for further hard drives either. Overall, the system is very good for a basic user, particularly for families who require a simple, relatively cheap personal ... Read review

A good computer for a small budget.
Review of Dell Dimension 3100c by happygolucky1977

Advantages: Excellent customer service, trusted name
Disadvantages: Dell dimension 3100 is very big and is a bit of an eye sore.

...before Xmas my new shiny Dell computer arrived at 7:30pm. I was really impressed. Now what did stike me at first was the weight of the boxes. Unfortunately, I bought this computer before the flat screen monitor became standard but the monitor provided is very good. But this, along with a large base unit, takes up a lot of space on my computer desk. I don't think this is as big an issue now. Now the good thing about Dell is the fact that they will ...
...the price a lot because Dell charge quite a lot for extra components. The computer did come with a range of basic software installed such as XP, MS Works, and a good CD writer package but, again extra software cost a lot more. Now this computer is fine if you want to surf the internet, write an email, play some music (although the stand soundcard isn't the best) but if you want to play some of the lastest games or use this as a multimedia computer ... Dell Optiplex GX 520 PC
Review of Dell OptiPlex GX520 Essential DT by craggybuk

Advantages: Small, quiet, fast boot times
Disadvantages: Not for dedicated gamers

...we probably have about 2000 Dell PCs situated across all sites. I have had the Optiplex GX520 for almost a year now without any problem of any description. Mine is primarily used for writing software with Visual Studio and writing database code in MS SQL Server which affects millions of rows of data. These applications would really test the machine to the limits but how would it perform? As this machine was bought as part of a batch, the price paid ...
...mark if buying from the Dell website. -- Looks -- The Optiplex comes in Dells standard black coloured case. On the front there is a DVD Rom / CDRW drive and a floppy disk drive (which is a rarity these days, mine has never been used). Add to this 2 USB2 ports, a headphone socket and a microphone socket and it soon becomes apparent that you can perform most functions you will need to without even getting to the back of the PC. On the back of the ... Read review

Powerhouse, budget gamer's dream!
Review of Dell XPS 420 by BoyEngland

Advantages: Can play the latest games, fast boot-up, reliable, runs cool, runs quietly
Disadvantages: Price is a little steep, not all games are compatible with Quad Core processors

...built XPS 420 directly from Dell which contains a 2.40GHz Quad Core processor, 4GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 9800GT, and all the other good stuff a computer needs. I ordered it late night on a Sunday, and I had it setup and working by the Thursday. Best of all? Shipping was free! Between pressing the power button and the computer being ready to use, you are looking at around 30 seconds. This includes me entering my password to log on. I see this as ...
...hadn't been for the current Dell offer and a discount code I had at the time. I will admit, I wouldn't have paid £920 for the system, no chance! Since starting the computer for the first time, I haven't had a single problem with it that wasn't caused by a faulty disk or my lack of patience. I would recommend it to anyone, even gamers. ...
