chalkiec
Advantages: The Fairly Cheap Price

Nice Machine - XPicky
Review of Emachines 330 by
Michael151256
Advantages: Quick, cheap (cheaper now!), reasonable well equipped.
Disadvantages: XP operating system limits software options
e-machines 330 - 1Ghz, 20Gig,128Mb, 15" monitor,CD-RW/DVD.
Nice machine, works fine, quick, speakers tacky, keyboard fair, mouse ditto. No real complaints other than it cost £800 and 14 days later PC World Dropped the price by £200. Ooops but these things happen. The biggest problem with it has been XP which is very choosy about what it will and will not run. The machine itself is all it should be. The monitor displays a good crisp picture, the ... ...could be better, the keyboard is a no-frills keyboard. XP is stable but there is so much software that is not compatible that it makes the machine difficult to use. Even little things like my wifes favorite screensaver will not run under XP. This makes what is basically a good machine into a not so good machine. I would be the first to admit that you can't judge a machine by the operating system but it does have an impact on how the machine performs. ...

Good info for the second hand pc buyer
Review of Emachines 770 by
gaycunttom666
Advantages: Good Solid Components
Disadvantages: Lack Of Ram, Poor Quality Input Devices
I have owned the eMachines 770 for nearly 2years 4months, it was originally purchased as a cheap student machine.
It has served me well in the years i have owned it, i have replaced the minimal amount of things on this machine, mainly the keyboard, mouse and speakers that came with it as they were 'budget' alternatives that i found very 'flimsy'.
The basics of the system are adequate for most of the basic pc use market, it is not meant to be a ... ...basic pc/internet user for browsing ect.
As this system is now nearly 3 years old, the chances are that any potential buyer will be buying second hand, for college work or a low budget family system.
If this is the case then i recommend that you shop around to find one with a RAM upgrade (higher than 256mb) possibly a new keyboard and mouse set, and if you would like it as a system to handle music and media, i suggest a speaker upgrade. ...

Emachines, highly recommended.
Review of Emachines eMonster 750 by
kaan
Advantages: Fast, reliable, good value, good OS, good looking.
Disadvantages: N/A
...assistant at PC World recommended emachines for my new home computer I was slightly sceptical, having never heard of the brand before.
He showed me the specs:-
60GB hard drive
256mb ram
1.70ghz Intel Pentium 4 processor
Windows XP
16X DVD
CDRW
56k modem
ethernet (for broadband)
For little over £500 for those impressive specs (and that was six months ago), I figured it couldn't be too bad so I bought it.
Since I only bought the base unit, ... ...speakers, a mouse and a keyboard.
The computer was easy to set up, with all the sockets well labelled and well laid out, use of the instruction manuel wasn't even required.
XP, the newest of the windows OS' is a very simple, good looking and stable OS, which I find extremely easy to navigate and very fast to browse and surf the internet.
This computer has software is included such as Microsoft Works 2000, Internet explorer 6, Windows media player, ...
