The affordable yet powerful PC.
Review of HP Pavilion t819.uk Photosmart PC - P4 515 2.93 GHz by Riddal

Advantages: Affordable, flexible, good quality, nice looking.
Disadvantages: TV capture is naff, HD smaller than advertised

...4GB used up by built-in HP recovery software. It makes you wonder why it needs pre-installed recovery software but, with todays users, I guess it's explainable. The RAM in the PC is the PC3200 type and it cost me about £40 to upgrade to 700+ MB from Crucial Technologies. The graphics processor is alright - nothing special. Unsurprising as it's an Intel one, along with the processor. I had to upgrade to a 256MB ATI card using the PCI Express slot ...

There are three PCI slots, one of which is free. The modem and TV capture card are installed here. The HD is connected to the motherboard by SATA, and there are four slots for RAM in total if you feel like upgrading. There is a free CD/DVD drive bay. When upgraded the ... Read review

The in's and outs of Dellivision
Review of Dell Dimension 8300 - P4 2.8 GHz - 17" TFT by Kikie705

Advantages: Great programs and a lovely lightweight monitor
Disadvantages: Too many gadgets to play with!

When I first got this computer, I was in love. So many new features and games, and everything loaded so quickly! Compared to my old model, it was a dream come true. But I soon found that, although many of the extra programs they had given me worked, they also took up plenty of space. However, after clearing out all the excess junk and saying goodbye to several new games they had installed for me, it isn't a bad little computer. I am a student at ...
...half my gear, and being able to pack away my computer in a little lightweight box is brilliant - I dont have to worry about carrying it half a mile to the car and then keeping it safe on the journey. The DVD and CD reader and rewriter are brilliant - at least they suit someone like me who, as a student spend a lot of my time making cheap CD's. However, although this is a great machine for the occasional essay and a quick surf of the internet, I ... Read review

I have this computer and have had to change my hardrive twice in its 4 year life. It is very easy to use. Powerhouse, budget gamer's dream!
Review of Dell XPS 420 by BoyEngland

Advantages: Can play the latest games, fast boot-up, reliable, runs cool, runs quietly
Disadvantages: Price is a little steep, not all games are compatible with Quad Core processors

...built XPS 420 directly from Dell which contains a 2.40GHz Quad Core processor, 4GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce 9800GT, and all the other good stuff a computer needs. I ordered it late night on a Sunday, and I had it setup and working by the Thursday. Best of all? Shipping was free! Between pressing the power button and the computer being ready to use, you are looking at around 30 seconds. This includes me entering my password to log on. I see this as ...
...hadn't been for the current Dell offer and a discount code I had at the time. I will admit, I wouldn't have paid £920 for the system, no chance! Since starting the computer for the first time, I haven't had a single problem with it that wasn't caused by a faulty disk or my lack of patience. I would recommend it to anyone, even gamers. ...
