Review of Apple iMac Core Duo 2 GHz - 20" TFT by kieranc

Advantages: Look nice, Software is reliable, Work without any hassle
Disadvantages: Twice the cost of a windows computer

Apple have always designed nice kit but the price will keep them out of reach for most. Having had many windows computers before the mac, i was very used to the layout of windows and how to force it to work when it didnt want to. The best way i can describe a mac is that it just plain works, very little to no hassle. worth the extra money. I purchased a mac after saving up and the first thing that you notice is how well equipped they are. Built ...

The Apple iMac - What an amazing machine
Review of Apple iMac Core Duo 2 GHz - 20" TFT by scottgintheuk

Advantages: Easy to use, brilliant software, does not crash and no viruses!
Disadvantages: None

It was about a year ago when I got fed up with my Window's PC, and gave it away. I was fed up with the viruses, trojans etc and the thing crashing all the time - fed up with troubleshooting/uninstalling and reinstalling software.. What a waste of time. I was a subscriber of a few podcasts, many people on the podcasts were praising the Mac for its ease of use, lack of viruses and an 'overall enjoyment' amongst many other things. I then decided to ...
...looked back. The software is amazing, compliments to all the Mac developers out there. Software designed for the Mac is not only beautiful, but very easy to use - you don't have to spend hours browsing through manuals. Don't think that there is a shortage of software and don't say 'Oh, if I get a Mac then I won't be able to..... ' - because there is a lot of software around for the Mac which will do just about anything. The iMac is a beautiful machine ... Read review

Apple refines the desktop pc again
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 2 GHz - 20" TFT by firefly1240

Advantages: All in one - slim design - apple osx and ilife etc
Disadvantages: expandability

...You get all the great apple software, tiger, ilife etc. All the ports are easily acessable. If you get the bluetooth option and keyboard and mouse you have hardly any cables at all. (please not the bluetooth mouse does go through batteries though!). This is just so easy to setup and use. This is how computing should be. I was up and running and on line in about 15mins from getting it out of the box. The setup for Tiger is so easy and you can transfer ...
...I got mine from the apple store (www.apple.com/uk/store) and excellent service and would throughly recommend. Build time longer if you want to customise your iMac. The only downside like all previous iMacs is expandiblity although you can easily upgrade the harddrive and the Superdrive if you want to. A wonderful Mac. Don't be put off with Apple changing to Intel processors - Apple is fantastic at legacy/backward support. Unlike Wintel machines ... Read review

There's really no need to look at anything else
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 2 GHz - 20" TFT by bn04kga

Advantages: all in one package is powerfull enough to work and play with
Disadvantages: mighty mouse takes some getting used to after a lifetime of one button operation

Having worked on apples for over 12 years now I have to say I'm biased. However, due to my experience of the early edition G5 imac I have taken the plunge and bought one for home. Even my work colleagues love the design and ellegance of the mac, it really does set it apart from anything else out there! The new mighty mouse takes a little getting used to though. The side button is very sensitive and as most of us mac users have only had to use the ...
...a little heavy handed!!! The operating system (OS 10.4 - Tiger) is extremely user friendly and I'm sure anyone contemplating moving from PC to mac would only need to be shown around the system preferences to realise that. On a professional basis and bearing in mind the mac is predominantly based in the design and print industry it simply blows the competition away. From a homeuser point of view both the wife and the kids have picked it up easily ... Read review

Imac G5 - the complete system
Review of Apple iMac G5 - PPC G5 2.1 GHz - 20" TFT by nig6

Advantages: Looks cool, quick and good price
Disadvantages: Sockets on Back and power switch

...poor. The additional memory from Apple was very expensive, so I bought mine from Crucial and added it myself, this was a 2 minute job and can be done by anyone. Now I know the sockets were annoying, but that is and still remains my only fault with this machine. The display is ultra sharp and the speed of the machine is pretty good, not as good as the newer Intel Dual Core machines of course, but still completely acceptable. The DVD/CD re-writer ...
...no need to pay the apple extortionate prices! I've had my mac nearly 2 years now, and it has crashed once in that time, and that was my stupid fault not the machines! Yes the performance isn't quite as good as a PC, but when it looks this good and is so reliable it suits me fine! ... Read review
