Good Home PC, Bad Gamers PC
Review of Acer Aspire E380 - Athlon 64 X2 4200+ by naesxx

Advantages: Good Processor, plays nice with home productivity
Disadvantages: Bad graphics card, Stupid Power Button

Acer E380 I picked one of these up at comet on sale sue to a shop refurbished and as such got a display model for a bargain price of £299.99, excitement and a sense of smugness when other customers were piped to the post by me, ok it didn't have a box and need some spit and polish but it was cheap and for what it is mega cheap! In The Box (or not in my case): You get one PC, An Acer keyboard and mouse (wired), Media Centre Remote and Receiver and ...
...time you turn on the Acer software advises you to create a restore DVD (do it) as so you can recovery from any very bad crashes or faults, the system comes preloaded with as Acer calls it "Acer ePerformance Management improves response time, releases unused memory, and enhances overall system health" I found this to be the opposite and so uninstalled as soon as I could and found performance and boot times increased but someone make like the preloaded ... Acer-Aspire T160
Review of Acer Aspire T160-NMB70 - Athlon 64 3400+ by Danz0r

Advantages: Small, Lightweight, Stylish
Disadvantages: Onboard Graphics Card, Noisy

Acer have been the manufacturers to millions of computers in households all around the world, and great expectations are on them every time they release a new desktop, so does this one carry the standard forward. Well- Yes and No. The good things about this computer is the general speedy feeling throughout, with the AMD 3400+ easily meeting the demand for speed for todays general applications. The AMD Processor gives power where you need it, and ...
...Upgrade with another 512 Stick of RAM, Would improve performance and stability somewhat. The down side to this PC, is that it is abit noisy, and I wouldn't recommend it if your looking for a Silent PC to be left on whilst sleeping, etc. Another dissapointment is the lack of a physical graphics card. The T160 comes equipped with an onboard Nvidia 6100 which can only withstand some of todays games. Games like Doom3 would not be able to play smoothly ... Read review

Great little Pc
Review of Acer Veriton M460 - Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 GHz by mop591

Advantages: High speeds
Disadvantages: Very bad graphics, not a gaming pc

This is a great pc for business. Its 2.2Ghx dual core cpu (4.4Ghx total speed) with a 2mb Cache combined with the 1GB of RAM provides a very fast, reliable machine able to cope with many demanding programs running at one time. It also comes with microsoft office 2007 and windows xp software included and with a 160GB hard drive to store all your data. Despite its power to cope with many programs it is very poor if you are looking for a gaming pc, ... Read review

Great introduction to Mac OS / Home Theater PC
Review of Apple Mac mini Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz by alphamusic

Advantages: Price, performance, design, OSX 10.5, Windows with Bootcamp, HTPC, remote controll
Disadvantages: Limited upgradability

I recently upgrade from a 1.5Ghz G4 stealth upgrade Mac Mini to the Core 2 Duo 1.83 Ghz mini and I am very impressed with the performance improvements. With Xbench the Core 2 Duo was approximately twice as fast as the G4 on many tests. The Mac Mini has a very small form factor 6.5"x6.5"x2" which makes it well suited as a Home Theater PC (HTPC) or for desktop use where space is at a premium. I primarily use the mini as an everyday computer with some ...
...desk and under a TV. The Mac Mini is an excellent entry level computer or an introduction to Macs. This is not to say the computer is limited in capabilities. The only real limitation over the mini's bigger brothers, the iMac and Mac Pro is the fact that it's expandability is more restricted. The stock laptop hard drive is slower than desktop sized hard drives, and the graphics card is integrated meaning gaming performance suffers. Realizing these ... Read review
